Forum > The 2011 AL West race isn't over...

...but that's simply because the games haven't been played yet.

Barring several major injuries, the Rangers will win this thing going away, as most expected.

Pythag records at this point in MLB seasons correlate more strongly with final W-L records than do current W-L records, and the Rangers are currently 5.5 games up on the rest of the AL West in the pythag standings.

Pitching wins in the post season ... so it serves TEX well that the ALW race is going to be a pitching race as opposed to a hitting race.

Whoever wins the picthing race will be best prepared regardless of who the opposition is from the other divisions.

The Season hasn't started or at least the hill is still a head.
When white towels start being thrown into the middle of the ring,
is when real talk and action gets my attention. We're getting close.

We've got a pretty solid sample size now. And the Rangers are very clearly the best AL West team.

Always possible that we get a bunch of huge injuries... but barring that... over.

Well, I'm certainly not going to bump my own wrongs.

Just thought it was funny. When I saw all of these old threads at the top I thought something was wrong with the forums.

On another note, is anyone else as excited/nervous to see what Holland does against the Angels tonight?

Ryan, very excited. As long as Dutch competes and gives us a chance to win I will be pleased. Meaning I don't need him to throw a 3rd GC SO to be impressed. I just want some validation that his improvement is legit. I'm just as excited to see our lineup continue their good at bats against Haren.

At least you're honest about it.

Last night we saw the fallacy of discounting the importance and of a good bullpen.

Angels bullpen: Good
Rangers bullpen: Bad all season

There's no doubt that our offense can rake and it was great that we rocked one of the Angels' aces. I like our chances a lot, but let's wait and see who JD brings in to solidify the pen (and who the Angels add, if anyone) before we count our chickens.
