Forum > Yankees vs Heat
rivalry games always make it better. last night was great. and so was game 6 of the ALCS. but in my opinion nothing beats Game 7 of the Mavs Spurs in 06. That was absolutely one of the best sporting spectacles i have seen.
granted nothing gets my heart pumping like watching Nefti's called strike to win the pennant..... man its close!

Arod striking out looking brought sports related tears to my eyes for the 1st time since Sirr Parker snuck inside the pylon to finish off #1 K State to win the Big 12 title.
I'm not a big NBA or Mavs fan so I can't really compare last nights game to anything but that was a pretty big win. And I bet Heat fans are still trying to catch their breath today from that nut kick.

I do like the Mavs, despite my having become a Thunder fan since they moved to OKC, but I am a much bigger baseball fan than basketball fan, so nothing beats the Rangers win.
Yankees vs Heat is an interesting comparison for me. I have nothing against the Heat, but I really don't much care for many of their players with the Big Three crap. Now the Yankees...I HATE them, but interestingly, i don't really dislike their players for the most part. In fact, I really do like a lot of them Ive seen over the years...ARod, Damon, Pettitte, Rivera and Bernie Williams come to mind. I guess it has a lot to do with the mechanics of the sports involved.

i agree with you about the yankees. theres really no reason to hate them except just to hate them. i think its the whole pay for a championship thing. Boston does the same thing (well tries too) but most rangers fans dont hate the red sox. hell i was happy when they won the WS both times. i think its a combination of the pay for a championship and just a general good ole fashion souther hatred for NYC. granted i dont think we really hate the Mets....
but its kinda the same reason why sooooooo many ppl hate on the Boys.

I lied. The last time I had sports related tears was when the Saints won the Super Bowl in 09. Not because I am a lifelong Saints fan but because I played ball with Drew Brees back in the day and it was very emotionally satisfyling to see a good friend win a ring. But the Aggies winning the Big 12 title on my 21st birthday (before I went out to celebrate in downtown Austin) was pretty awesome

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be about which team is more over-hyped by the media during post season play. During the ALCS last year, the ENTIRE post game analysis for each game was about something like, "Oh, so what did the Yankees do to lose this game?" instead of praising the Rangers for superior performance.
Similarly, last night after the Mavs made that incredible come back, those ESPN bitches kept on talking about about how the Heat fell apart instead of how the Mavs rose up. Even the title of the lead story was "Heat Lose Game 2" instead of "Mavs Win Game 2". I'm really getting sick of that east-coast bias horsesh**.

@ David G.
totally agree headlines were miami meltdown and crap like that. ugh. lord forbid a team west of the Mississippi and not in California have any success. the media cant handle it.
Although i do have to say when the dbacks won against the yankees the freakin world celebrated, everyone was so sick and tired of seeing the yanks win every year.
unfortunately if basketball keeps up its "superfriends" teams ideas parity will be lost in the nba. From the rumblings ive heard the Lakers are gonna attempt to package bynum, gasol, odom and others for a sign in trade for either paul or howard, and outright sign the other.... so that would be Lakers vs Miami/NY(if they get deron)/Chicago every freakin year. $hit gets old and they need to put rules against that kinda crap....granted they cant

Last night was a great sports night in my life, but it wasn't the greatest.
For me last years bandwagon fan, this years I haven't missed a pitch fan game 6 of the ALCS was the best game. It was the game when it was all over brought tear to my eyes as I remember a 5 year old boy listening to the Rangers play on a static ridden old radio with my Aunt Marlene. Aunt Marlene never missed a game for 10 years of Rangers game from the time they moved to Arlington to the time she had a sudden aneurysm one Monday morning, stood up, screamed out in anguish and feel over dead. IT brought back memories of my dad and I walking in the house with the paramedics trying to save her life so she could see another Rangers Game another Cowboy's game. Then on Facebook that night all of my friends from back in the day were sharing their stories about their loved ones living and past that were Rangers fans that never saw the Rangers in the playoffs much go to a World Series.
Last night was super sweet, and I am sure others have similar stories to mine about Mavs. But for me I will never feel the same about a game as I did after that Rangers win.
