Forum > Tracking Sacrifice Attempts

This might be a dumb question, but I'm having trouble finding a website that tracks sacrifice attempts. The usual suspects all track sacrifice bunts and sacrifice flies, but I'm looking for the raw number of attempted bunts. As you might expect, the subject of the inquiry just received a new mid-80s Caddy from his bosses. Thanks / WWM.

I'm not sure that you're going to be able to find a stat that would show you that. Mitch Moreland acted like he was going to drop down a bunt last night because Evan Longoria was playing so deep, and we all know that MM won't put a bunt down. Just seems like that would be a tough stat to track. I could be wrong though.

Adam, I think you're right and the example you offered is instructive. Still, I have to think that someone at BP in particular is tracking this sort of thing. I don't have my copy of the 2011 here at the day job office, but I think the manager capsules have a column that refers to sac attempts and sac success rate. I'll check to make sure. Thanks for replying.

I would assume "sacrifice attempt" = bunt judged to be an attempt at a sacrifice that is put in play. If you go up and waive at the first 2 bunting, and then swing away at 0-2 and single to LF, that doesn't go in the books as a "sacrifice attempt".
