LAA will do better with Mark Trumbo at 1b than they did last year with Napoli.

In any case I really feel bad for Kendry Morales who defected ... leaving his family in Cuba behind ... escaping on a raft ... on his 12th try! From his Wikipedia entry ...

"By early 2004, Cuba's national team and the Industriales banned Morales from their teams for disciplinary reasons due to their belief that he had met with people in an attempt to flee the nation. Morales denies this accusation, telling a reporter "That's not true. I never talked to any agent. But from that moment on, I just wanted to leave. I tried to do it several times without success, occasionally ending up in jail." He escaped on a raft in June 2004 to the shores of southern Florida, his 12th attempt at escape."

We got to offer him all our best wishes for a strong recovery. He's earned it.

Much love to Kendry. A real shame to see him encounter yet another setback.

Holy shat. If 12 escape attempts is legit, that dude is a bad ass. That's crazy....

Yet I still can't legally smoke a Cuban cigar even though every other thing in the local store is from Red China.

PT ... +1

The foreign policy is dated with its roots in the amount of money the Cuban emigrant population in Florida has donated to both political parties. If Cuba was loaning the US trillions of dollars like China is ... bet that policy would change.

It's going to be different soon. Fidel is out and his brother is opening up to the US. This ain't 1966, baby. Get ready to smoke some overrated cigars.

Hopefully soon.

But Raul's changes have been very minor.

As far as US policy towards Cuba goes, I'm no fan of most of it... but Cuba also isn't China (even leaving out economic concerns). China's government is far from perfect, but it is a whole lot better than Cuba's which is still very much a totalitarian government.
