Forum > Move Borbon to leadoff?
I can agree to either that, or putting Elvis in the lead off spot, Moreland second, and Kins somewhere further down while leaving Bobo hitting ninth. That way in the later innings there is double the chance of blazing speed on base when Mitch and Mike hit their doubles, and Julio isn't under any added pressure.

I too can agree to this. however be warned. Stats DB Rangers100 will come in and reem you for the very idea of how putting our statistical worst batter in the lead off is a terrible idea and provide stats about how kinsler is the best lead off person we have and how our offense is the best its ever been.
despite the fact that our offense doesnt score and we cant win baseball games....
right now i'll take any one but kins at lead off. if he's not walking, he's not getting on base. and when he's on base he's not stealing. borbon and andrus have both improved the past few weeks. its time to see them in the 1 and 9 spots again. i dont care which one. All i care about is the havoc they wreaked on the base paths. you could immediately see the opposing pitcher begin to have a panic attack when both of those guys were one.
it was fantastic. and its a peice we've been missing all year.
When you are successful, like we were last year, you duplicate success or even improve upon it. you dont take a step back. I dont belive Wash has learned that lesson yet.

Done! Tonight's lineup
Borbon, CF
Andrus, SS
Kinsler, 2B
Young, DH
Moreland, 1B
Beltre, 3B
Murphy, LF
Napoli, C
Gentry, RF
Dan
Definitely concur with Borbon at Leadoff ... but I'd put Moreland behind him as #2 ... drop Kinsler to #6 and put Andrus at #9.

"and when he's on base he's not stealing"
Kinsler had 3 stolen bases last week alone. He is not getting on base enough to bat lead off I agree, but to say he's not stealing not accurate.

I actually think that Julio is hitting in the right spot. I say a batting order like this.
Elvis
Michael
Moreland
Beltre
Murphy
Kinsler
Yorvit
Napoli or Davis
Borbon

The ONLY reason I like Elvis at 2 is the "opportunity" for the sac bunt. I watched WAY too many times last season Elvis get on in a close game and MY ground into a double play. I think Washington would do the same with Moreland and refuse to ask him to sacrifice.
As far as the 3 hole, if it's not MY it should be Moreland with Kinsler batting 6 in front of Murphy.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the lineup against a RHP.
Dan
Jared- I could agree to that. It worked last year so why not this year? BUT as I stated in my last post, if MY is batting 2nd, Wash HAS to be comfortable sacrificing him in a close game and he just won't.
Dan
oops... my last should be directed at dpbronc and not jared.
Dan
I don't think RW is going to shake things up too much for now.
Martin' is being groomed for that lead off spot. His time in NOW
Frisco will be all about plugging Leonys into a lead off mentality.
Elvis seems the perfect #2 guy. Young won't bunt or is a waste
doing so. As long as Elvis continues to be a singles hitter, hitting
second is best for the team. Kinsler still holds a +.350 OBP. It'll
be awhile before we see Martin', here at the Temple... um, maybe.

Is it time to try the Borbon leadoff experiment this year? Kinsler is struggling at the plate and Borbon, not to mention an 8-game hitting streak, seems to be squaring up the ball better than ever as of late. Obviously I'd still like to see Julio work the count more and get some walks but should we stick with Ian or make the change?
