To Philadelphia for Cole Hamels straight up. The Phillies have pitching to spare not to mention the need for a power hitting right fielder like Nelson Cruz. Or maybe even to Boston for Clay Buchholz in a package-type deal with other players being involved.

i like your style mike G. in my previous trade forum i had a trade proposal worked out for Cole Hamels. I like 2010 Buckholz and i'd be down with that. 2011 Buckholz kinda worries me... especially in this ball park. But i would totally take Hamels. especially after the maturity he showed last year. 09 he was a whiney little baby. 10 he manned up and played well, and this year he's looked good 2.
you sir have impressed me :)
question is though who would be your unequivocal number 1 though, CJ, or Hamels?...

Certainly Cole Hamels has a more proven track-record and arguably better "stuff" than C.J. Wilson, but I'd have to give the title of #1 to C.J. There are a few reasons I would do this. First off, C.J. has been performing as expected this season, his last 3 or 4 starts have been very impressive, so why bring in a "#1" to essentially replace and bump down the #1 that you already have, and that is performing at a TORP level. Also, I wouldn't want C.J. to get any ideas with him having the ability to sign anywhere this offseason. Another reason is I don't think it'd be wise to bring in a guy like Cole Hamels and dub him the new ace of the staff. He'd already be under enough pressure as it is, not to mention trying to possibly do too much. Cole Hamels would be an excellent addition as the current #2 in the staff even under the condition of trading Nelson Cruz to acquire him. And, if C.J. decides to leave at the end of the season, we'd have Cole Hamels to step up and be the new ace.

dont get my hopes up man.... just a 1,2,3 of CJ, Hamels, and Colbra (if he pitches like he has the past two games) sounds.... just fantastic

another i was thinking was how broke the Dodgers are right now, Cruz is pretty cheap right now. Wonder if we could snag Etheir....

Everything is a possibility but I don't think the Dodgers, with their financial situation, would trade their talented right fielder to bring in another talented right fielder who will likely cost around the same amount of money in their contracts in the future. But IF Nelson Cruz ever gets traded, I'd rather see him go for a TORP.

True. apparently only you and I are down with the Trading Cruz forum. lol. Looks like you and I are the only ones tired of the BS year after year lol.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great player (when healthy) ....he's just proven that he cannot stay on the field for extended periods of time without having another hamstring/quad injury.

There are already a few trade forums out there, however they mainly regard trades for pitching whether it be TORP or BP help. I too, believe that is our need, and that our hitting is good enough as is with the small caveat that we need some major adustments to the line up. In other words I feel we have the right players, but i dont feel like we are maximizing them to their greatest effort, and we are not putting them in the best position to succeed.
For example having kinsler in the leadoff spot. I know many will disagree, however just as many will agree that he no longer deserves to hit in that spot. if he's not taking a walk he's not getting on base. and especially as of late, he's an automatic first out. Andrus shouldnt be batting second, and Moreland is being wasted batting so low in the order. What's the point of having a guy blast a double every at bat, when nobody ahead of him can get on base.
Regardless this top is not about that. Here's the issue.... I love Cruz, he's one of my favorite players, and he's a joy to watch....... when he's on and when he's healthy. Lately he's been neither.... so here is my hope. I hope that he comes back from the DL truly healthy and he begins to rake again....
Then i say we trade him at the deadline. I know it sounds crazy, insane, i should be locked up. However he's just too injury prone and unreliable to count on any more... and i think the true Rangers fans are willing to admit that, and might be willing to go along with me on this trade idea.
so question is.... REALISTICALLY... what do you think we could get for him. You can even think of a package with another player to maximize efficiency.
I for one think we could work a package with some of our pitchers with the White Sox to get Carlos Quentin and John Danks or Gavin Floyd. Ive even suggested trading with Milwaukee for Cory Hart and Kam Loe. Granted Mitch Moreland can play RF, and we still have Gentry or even Martin so it doesnt have to be a RF we trade for. The hopes is for another big bat to compliment Hambone, however if you think Beltre and Kins are enough and we could bring in a Stud pitcher do it.
Regardless, What do you think we can get for Cruz, or a Cruz package.
