Forum > What's Up With All the Errors?

The Rangers currently hold the dubious distinction of leading all of MLB in errors, with 32. There is no way IMO, that we should be that bad in the field. With guys like Andrus and Beltre, this should be an average-above average fielding team.

It's stating the obvious, but poor fielding is only intensifying our current woes,

I think most would agree that this infield has as good as range as any team in baseball and the OF, when healthy, is probably top 3. The fact is that when your defense gets to more balls, you get more plays on the ball, and therefore may end up with more errors. Sure some are just stupid things like Borbon's and Elvis's bobbles and lack of concentration...but others are due to a more difficult play resulting from getting to a ball deeper in the hole or something like that. A perfect example would be that ball in today's game where Cervelli hit the ball down the 3rd base line that Beltre made a great stab on, in fact I bet less than 5 other 3B can make that stab, then he made a long throw across the diamond that would have barely got Cervelli at 1st but it pulled Naps off the bag. It went as an error, but it was clearly a result of Beltre's superior defensive range.

A general lack of focus by all. I'm seriously afraid that there might be a staff vs coaching issue. I really dont know who with though and I really dont know where this is coming from. But is anyone else getting the same vibe from this team that last years cowboys did prior to Wade's ouster?

it's like nobody gives a F***

Definately, DEFINATELY not playing like AL Champs.
