Always a fun game. Come up with your best possible REALISTIC trade for this season.

Remember its gotta be realistic, but anyone is fair game, Cruz, Hamilton, Nefti, etc... so for example if youre trying to say Chris Davis, and Teagarden for Roy Halladay, I'll make sure Roy Halladay stops by your house during their May visit and slaps you with his C**k for deeming him so worthless.

Lets just admit it, we all wish we were JD or in his position, and its always fun to play Fantasy GM.

So lets see who comes up with the best stuff. I'll declare a winner when i notice the posts decreasing. I'll be grading on player(s) earned vs lost, along with how this effects the team as a whole. Hell this could the only post though so... i might win with this. ha!

Davis to the Cardinals for a keg and a six pack to be named later.

you'd probably have better luck making that trade with milwaukee lol

I'm probably too much of a realist to play this game. Though Texas could put together a rag-tag package of high-upside, low actual value AAAA guys in Chris Davis, Pedro Strop, Julio Borbon, and Michael Kirkman to get someone craptacular. If they made it Davis, Strop and Profar, they might could get Wandy Rodriguez, whom Houston would probably move because of his salary and their rebuilding phase. He's signed through 2013 or '14 with option. I imagine Heath Bell would be a target in July, although I don't know what you do with Feliz then, who has said he just wants to close now.

What if they went crazy and did this:

Feliz and Harrison for Greinke
Perez and Davis for Bell
Profar and Scheppers for Wandy

That would be some drastic stuff, and without moving MY too, I don't know if Texas could take on all that salary - but it would be an instant 3-pronged upgrade in pitching. You could put Ogando back in the bullpen, and you'd have a rotation of Greinke, Wandy, CJ, Lewis, and Holland for the remainder of the season.

Speaking of trades - it hurts me to see Justin Smoak over there - I still think he's going to be a good one - like Adrian Gonzalez.

Houston seems like a good trade partner this season. They have what we need/want, and we have some guys they might could use. Wandy, Bourn, Myers (maybe?), Lyon...some sort of deal seems possible depending on what they want. I doubt they will want many of our washouts unless we throw in some real prospects.

Trade Andrus for a sack of balls and move Michael Young back to shortstop

May 4, 2011 at 11:08 PM | Unregistered CommenterScooby Dude

Ian Kinsler, Chris Davis, Tanner Scheppers, Pedro Strop, Engel Beltre, and Luis Sardinas to the Cardinals for Chris Carpenter and Eduardo Sanchez. Rangers get a solid front-line starter and a potential late-innings reliever for the future while the Cardinals get a legit second baseman, and two potential late-innings arms to help their bullpen.

@Scooby... you've been drinking again. Next time MY plays SS will be in an old timers game on a 60' diamond.

@WWJDD

come on man this is Dream Trade scenario. you cant tell me Wandy rodriguez is your dream situation. But this is just an exercise in naming one's favorite players, or players one thinks are awesome. If I must play that game, I'd love for Texas to steal the following players from other teams:

Josh Johnson
Mike Adams
Grady Sizemore
Daniel Bard
David Price

I will clone John Rhadigan 5 times and trade his 5 clones for those five players, straight up. That's my dream trade. And I've decided I will pass on the T-Mobile girl - instead I want the girl in the roller rink with the full leg cast in the Keystone Light commercial, and for her I will trade the Japanese reliever we signed in the offseason, I forget his name.

May 5, 2011 at 10:39 AM | Unregistered CommenterWWJDD?

Actually, I see I need to only clone Rhadigan 4 times, because I will send the real John Rhadigan to TB for Price.

May 5, 2011 at 10:41 AM | Unregistered CommenterWWJDD?

And one last amendment. I've decided to make Keith Stones my batting coach. If I have to trade something to get him, I'll trade Ron Washington's moustache.

May 5, 2011 at 10:43 AM | Unregistered CommenterWWJDD?

i believe if he was our batting coach we'd see massive improvements all over.

come on man. youre ruining the fun. lemme guess.... youre an accountant arent you...

its not just about favorite players. you think john lackey is a favorite player of mine? hell no. its just a fun game on how you as gm would improve the team.

however if you have cloning machine cant you just multiply napoli, moreland, CJ, ogando, and Feliz.... we could just play with a team of multiples of them. maybe clone JJ barea as well as a pinch runner/unofficial mascot/badass?

May 5, 2011 at 11:14 AM | Unregistered CommenterDcaggie06

You are right about my cloning machine - I was not utilizing it to the best of its capabilities. I wouldn't clone Napoli, though, since we don't even seem to have space in the everday lineup for 1 Napoli, much less 2 or 3 Napolis.

I would probably clone Michael Young 8 times, and one day I would roll out the following lineup:

CF: Mike Young clone
2B: Mike Young clone
DH: Mike Young
LF: Mike Young clone
SS: Mike Young clone
1B: Mike Young clone
3B: Mike Young clone
RF: Mike Young clone
C: Mike Young clone

That would make up for all the position changes we've forced him to make, and would allow him to play every position for an entire game. We would have some errors, but considering the way he's hitting right now, we would probably score about 10 runs.

1B: Billy Butler
2B: Kinsler
3B: Beltre
SS: Andrus
RF: Mitch Moreland
CF: Gentry/Martin
LF: Hambone
C: Yorvit/Napoli
DH: MY

May 5, 2011 at 11:36 AM | Unregistered CommenterDcaggie06

Engel Beltre and Robbie Ross for Heath Bell.

Leury Garcia and Joe Wieland for K-Rod (they'd just give him away if we ate the contract).

May 5, 2011 at 11:44 AM | Unregistered CommenterLSU

I'm sure this is just further proving why I should NEVER be a GM in baseball....

But hey, its always fun to spend other ppls money. Ok... last one... for now. I wanna see some more ppl posting!!!! this can be fun (or am i still immature enough to think of creating my dream team is fun)

Trade: AZ
MY,Borbon,Harrison
for Chris Young, Armando Gallaraga

Trade: Seattle
David Murphy, Perez, Scheppers, Chavez, Profar
for Felix Herandez w an extension

Trade: Milwaukee
Cruz, Kinsler, Mitch Moreland, Napoli, CJ

3B - Beltre
SS - Andrus
