Forum > On Track to Win 90
Just to clarify: Since the 9-1 start, the Rangers are 7-12, which is not .500. Their bullpen has been bad, but their so called "hitters'' have been worse.
If Brandon McCarthy (another Ranger reject) hadn't made so many errors, the Rangers wouldn't have scored more than a single run against him.
The lack of concentration from the "hitters'' is abysmal. This has got to be rectified or the Rangers won't win 75 games.

Jake,
Chill man....Read Newberg's most recent piece. Chill.

Just to clarify, after the 6 game win streak the Rangers have played .500 ball. It just depends on how you count it.
Further, the Rangers are currently on track to win about 90 games, even with the mediocore play over the last three weaks.
Thats baseball for you, play like crap for three weeks and you are on track to win 90 even after only one week of the season.
That just shows that rediculous overreactions are not appropriate unless of course you are projecting other sports onto baseball like football and basketball or something in which case you need a head adjustment.
Joe
that was supposed to be even after just one MONTH of the season

@Jake, you do not dissagree with Joe's posts. These are his threads, let him speak the truth...just stay out of the way!

@Jake, I'm a guy who can't watch SC if we lose,(like they even show us) but it's baseball man a 162 games if you let a week like this get to you, I don't understand how you can enjoy this sport.

We are on track to win about 90 games over 162 after the first 29 or so.
But we are really only on that track because of the 6 game win streak to start the year.
Since then the Rangers have played .500 ball.
But I think one gets the sense that while the Angels have been playing closer to their upside the Rangers have been playing far from it, at least over the last few weeks.
When we get Hambone, an improved bullpen, and a slightly more reliable rotation (this might be the biggest uncertainty) back I think we will be playing a lot better. Also, when Nellie and Kinsler come out of their slumps it should be easier to score runs, and there is no reason to think they won't come out of it. Furthermore, it really seems that the only hitters hitting according to their upside right now are Michael Young and Torrealba (maybe Napoli but not in average yet). I don't think we have seen anything close to what Kinsler, Andrus, Beltre, Hamilton, Cruz, Murphy, Borbon, and Davis are capable of yet. Our offense is going to get a lot better and I think the recent rash of sloppy defense will get cleaned up as well.
So, while there are some concerns I still see these Rangers as a potential 95-100 win team.
