Since Josh Hamilton's inevitable injury on April 12th (wow that already seems like a while ago) the Rangers' offense has struggled. No, not an Oakland A's-esque anemic offense, but something the immensely talented Rangers lineup should not be dealing with seemingly game after game. It'll be a while (too long) until Hamilton returns but at least this injury occured early in the season unlike 2010's broken ribs. As if missing the MVP wasn't enough, we lost All-Star closer Neftali Feliz to the 15-day DL due to shoulder inflamation. Word from the Rangers was that Feliz's DL stint is more precautionary than anything but hopefully this injury doesn't linger or become worse. There's even whispers of Feliz's shoulder discomfort being the end result of stretching him out during spring training. And, as if our bullpen situation wasn't already shaky enough (even with Feliz) we lose Darren O'Day to the 60-day DL. Yet, amongst all these injuries the Rangers still find themselves atop the AL West. Nelson Cruz and Ian Kinsler will eventually hit their stride, Neftali Feliz and Josh Hamilton will eventually return, and the Rangers will surely find themselves as legit contenders to repeat as AL Champions. Now, let's hope for Cruz's hamstrings hold up, Hamilton to avoid another freak injury, Feliz's DL stint to truly be more precautionary than anything else, Kinsler to remain healthy, Borbon and Andrus to get on base, and etc. The Rangers are a solid team at worst; World Series contenders at best. Before 2010, when's the last time Rangers fans have been able to declare that? Never. Be thankful for the gift of watching the greatest team our franchise has ever assembled every night rather than stress. There are many bright days ahead this season and beyond. It's not the end of the world Ranger fans.
