Forum > Batting Order with Hamilton Out?

Well, Wash could get creative and put Kinsler in the 3-hole, but I think he'll leave him at lead-off. He'll likely have MY hitting 3rd...this could be ugly for a little while.

My best batting order:
Kins, Andrus, Cruz, Beltre, Murphy, MY, Moreland, Yorvit/Napoli, Borbon

Wash:
Kins, Andrus, MY, Beltre, Murphy, Cruz, Moreland, Yorvit/Napoli, Borbon

Texas really needed to move Young, so they could just slot Napoli at DH 75% of the time, and let Moreland get experience hitting against both lefties and righties at the major league level. Losing Hamilton does free up some playing time for Murphy, but it doesn't help solve the other problem - that you have one of your best power threats sitting on the bench in Napoli when you are using Moreland at 1B and Young at DH. Now that Hamilton is gone, you really need Napoli in there to help protect Cruz. I don't really know how bringing up Davis helps anything - unless they are going to start playing Mitch in LF. Seems like Davis is redundant because we already have 2 guys slotted at 1st / DH who aren't getting enough at bats as it is (Moreland and Napoli).

Should be very interesting next couple of series, especially the games in NY. I think they're just biding their time right now, and after the all star break I think they will bring in a TORP and perhaps another OF, and they will move both Davis and Young to address these roster imbalances.

Makes sense to move MY because hey we dont need any more bats with Hamilton out. Geez MY was the only guy hitting the ball worth a crap yesterday once Hamilton left. MY is a good hitter that we need more than ever. I just dont want his limited range on the field playing defense...

I read this post earlier and chuckled. Thought, "MY in the 3 spot? No way." Then I went to Twitter. Holy shit. Wash really does have him in the 3 spot. He's swinging a decent bat right now, but man, come on. Should we just trade Nelly? We clearly don't want to use his bat to bring home any runs...

Young DH
Cruz RF
Napoli 1B

Borbon CF

or

Kinsler 2B
Moreland LF

Wash's lineup will be:

Kins, Andrus, MY, Beltre, Cruz, (some rotating combination of Moreland/Murphy/Napoli 6th and 7th), Torrealba, Borbon

Why not Moreland in LF or RF with Napoli and Davis at 1B? Put Murphy in CF and make Borbon the 4th OF to make up the Offense lost from losing Hamilton

Kins 2B
Elvis SS
Cruz RF
Beltre 3B
Young DH
Napoli C
Murphy CF
Moreland LF
Davis 1B

Heres the lineup for todays game. Get used to it.

Ian Kinsler, 2b; Elvis Andrus, ss; Michael Young, dh; Adrian Beltre, 3b; Nelson Cruz, rf; David Murphy, lf; Mike Napoli, c; Mitch Moreland, 1b; Julio Borbon, cf.

I just saw that...rediculous to have MY 3rd while Napoli hits 7th. Your best overall run producing hitter is supposed to hit 3rd. Who on the planet thinks Young is our best hitter? I'd put Nelly 3rd, slide Nap up to 5th and have young somewhere after that. Maybe 7th so you can get a lefty to break the righty barage. Oh well, it's obvious Wash has made it a priority to keep Mikey's fragile ego happy. I don't care if he had 3 hits yesterday, he's slugging .432 - 8th best on the team.

This is my biggest issue with Wash. His lineups make no sense. Almost like he just puts guys in the order of how much he likes them or based on their height or something arbitrary like that. I can't help but think we would score more runs over the course of the year if we used a more optimal lineup based on stats. And I'm not a full fledged saberhead...more of a hybrid traditionalist/saber
