Things that always work: internet petitions.

If you don't like Rhadigan just turn off the Rhadigan feature on your television device. It can usually be found under sound settings, but for TVs made before 2003 you may need to contact customer service.

Baseball used to be a radio game, but now it is a TV game. It is time to move Eric Nadel over to the TV side. John Mulligan has to go.

It would be so cool if Nadel and Tommy G were in the TV booth together. You get to watch the game AND listen to Nadel.

'OUT' on the Petition...
Someone mentioned that Rhadigan was a "studio guy", which, to me, is a great point.
PBP... he's learning on the fly, obviously. Rhads gets too much into the color aspect, in
approach. He can't manage dead air, which actually helps in Baseball... some at least.
TAG and Rhads are not shuffling the visuals of the game, as a team. Does it seem that
TAG is sounding much more subdued this season? I keep wanting to yell, "SPEAK UP"!
I listen to Joe Buck. He's well manicured, as a play by play. He keeps it simple, allowing
the color to be handled by his sidekick... that is appropriate. I said earlier, I may be able
to grow into Rhads, knowing the reality... I still feel like I can. Though I don't enjoy settling.
The other hand, I was in the middle with Josh Lewin. I liked his prep work, his enthusiasm
and his general ability to carry the game, without too many "Huhs"? from my absorption.
There were many times I wanted to scream, "Shut the #$*% UP, dude"!
To me, with all the good points of Lewin, I feel like I'm looking for the audio control console,
to program my master remote. I feel Lewin should come with an EAX switch. He brings
too much for my audio enjoyment. I'd prefer a PBP guy to be more on the "flat side", over
all the EAX choices Josh seems to bring. Sometimes less is more.
The petition, to bring Josh back, is far too one sided for me.
I think the Org can do much better than Rhads or Josh, in a baseball purest kind of way.
Surely there are better choices. Rhads may play out 2011. I can live with a return of Josh.
Is there a 'search button' available on this audio console? C'mon, why settle?
When Nadel was found, he was a hockey announcer, waiting for his big break
How'd that work out for us?

Interesting to see this post. I had been telling people this during spring training and during the first 9 games of the season. Rhadigan seems like a nice guy and nothing personal against him but I think the studio is his niche. I can't stand listening to another forced enthusiasm call of a home run by him. It is distracting. I find myself focusing on what he is saying instead of enjoying the moment which makes the thing all anticlimactic in some way that only a psychologist could figure out. Lewin wasn't perfect but who is. The thing that I appreciated with him though was the energy. His play by play made me feel like I was at the ballpark. Anyone that has watched the It's Time DVD will catch his highlight calls. The play by play guy has to be factual but you also want the partial fan mentality too. Rhads just comes off too mechanical. Its a shame too because I enjoy Tom. Nadel or Barnett even would work better for me if Lewin was approached to come back and said no thanks. Just don't ever see Nadel leaving radio.

In today's game, it was the opposite - when that huge double by Moreland happened in the 7th, he called it like - "ho hum - that's a double" - absolutely ZERO enthusiasm. I had to watch the screen for a second because I thought maybe Ordonez caught it and I somehow missed it... it was very confusing - and definitely not good TV.

All you good listeners out there must have very happy wives. I agree Rhadigan needs to improve but I don't spend much time listening to him because I can watch the game and see what is happening. If the Rangers make a play, I hoot and holler regardless of what he does. Wish it were a little easier syncing the television and Nadel radio broadcast.

Rhadigan makes too many. " What did he just say". There was a popup to right that Kinsler caught but he credited to Andrus who was not even in the game!! AND said that the Rangers was not making any double plays, when an inning before stated that Holand was getting out the first two batters- there is not four outs an inning- unless 4 outs an inning is the new rule change. He does not know Baseball. Time for admitting an error was made and correction is needed.

I was not surprised when they axed Josh. He was too goofy for me, but JR is just awful.
We are not a "B" team anymore, why couldn't the brass hire a polished baseball announcer?

Personally, I couldn't stand Lewin. His schlock had run its course early in year one. I always preferred Nadel. The Nadel-Rojas team I thought was excellent. Back to the present, Rhadigan is bad for different reasons. His lack of comfort in the booth and command of the game is palpable. There is nothing wrong with allowing the pictures do the talking (alah Jack Buck who I much prefer to Scully), but when you do open your mouth you need to have something to say of value. Rhadigan often doesn't say anything of value after long silences and doesn't utilize Grieve. Barnett is the obvious short term fix. His broadcast style is much more suited to TV than radio. Barnett on the radio is hard for me to take. Dolgin did very well paired with Nadel the other night to boot. Solve two problems at once.

Chris: This is so weird, I too feel the need to say the exact same thing in three different threads

Well played Ryan

Besides the timing issue of shots to the outfield the "Here HE comes". or "There HE goes". Bugs me.
HE? Frick'n say the players NAME. I can't take the drivel much longer... 3&2 with on out- Kins is running on the pitch (obviously) .. Young grounds to SS- "Oops, no Double Play there. He was there at second already... out at first. Now two out. Good time to run there."
This is talk from a man that is a practiced Studio Announcer, with prep scripts, NOT off the cuff free style visual training or natural talent to call PBP. He can't put it all together in free form. It's just NOT "there".

Isn't Barnett the guy who sounds like a drunk Tom Brokaw half the time? If so, no thank you.

Bring back Lewin. He can be goofy, but at least he has energy and can be enthusiastic. Although I bet that Lewin wouldnt even come back at this point, and who could blame him. He got the shaft.

Lewin's M O is he came to TX when they were bad from Detroit where he made his name doing Tiger games when the Tigers were very very bad. He brings excitement to broadcast when the team's product on the field isn't good. His Fox broadcast are more low key. Nolan doesn't want him. Rhadigan seems to be watching the game not announcing it. I would hope he is studying his tapes & someone is coaching him to help improve his game. I still think the best you can hope for is a 3rd person in the box.
Josh isn't coming back. Get over it & move on.

Rhadigan has become so awful it's distracting. Time to admit the mistake and bring Lewin back.
