Forum > Davis hits 3 HR Saturday night
Wow! Chris Davis sure can mash AAA pitching! In other breaking news, water is wet.

Now is the time to trade the bust that is Chris Davis. No point in bringing him back up so he can hit .180 and lose all of his value.
Pryor
Pryor I could not agree more !! I like Davis but he will never amount to nothing!!

God i hope all of you are wrong. Exept the water being wet of course

Chris Davis sure is a polarizing player huh? This may be the best time to trade him, as far as value goes, but as a 25 year old 5th round pick, with his glove and limited time in the bigs, I would hardly call him a bust. His rookie season in 08 he hit .285 with an .880 OPS (with a bigger sample than Moreland has so far). We all know the failures in 09 and 10, but what it shows is that he has the capabilities to hit major league pitching, and has yet to prove he can do so consistantly. His career BA is .248 by the way, Moreland's is .261. Not saying to move him up, just saying people seem to pick like or dislike and disregard the facts. There's a reason teams are watching and the Rangers haven't pulled the trigger on a trade yet. There is potential, whether it comes to fruition remains to be seen, but the book certainly hasn't been closed yet.

Davis is just one Nelson Cruz Hammy pull from a re-arranged lineup with him @ 1B and Moreland in right for a power lineup. Chris Davis' problem has been a slow or non-existent "load" or weight shift from left to right foot for a LHB. He has corrected that or Thad Bosley or someone clued him in. He has always been a good off speed hitter and opposing pitchers finally started coming in with heat..... I would NOT move him on .....potential gold glover as well.

Although I understand that Cruz has more tools than Davis (nobody ever said Chris had good speed or a cannon arm), I wonder if this is how Milwaukee blogs talked about Cruz before the trade to Texas. If I remember right, Cruz was talked about as a AAAA player, too.
I don't understand the hatred of Davis here, though. He is young. He has the tools to put up massive power numbers and he is a pretty good glove in the corner infield spots.
All I am saying is give CD (another) chance.

Much better than pretty good glove. That was my point about him being a polarzed player, everyone seems to love him or hate him. Borbon seems to fall into this cateory as well. Might have something to do with being spoiled by Kinsler and Andrus coming in and hitting the ground running like they have. Unfortunately it doesn't go so smooth for most.

Ktown makes a good point about his trade potential at this point. Moreland has already proven himself, and even with Davis' impressive performance in spring training, Moreland's was even better. Sure Davis may put up some sick power numbers, but Moreland puts at-bats together like a veteran and doesn't strike out nearly as often. The only problem is who we could get in return. The biggest name that may be on the market in the near future is obviously King Felix. But we already gave Seattle our power-hitting first-baseman prodigy last season for 3 months of Cliff Lee. So realistically, who could we expect in return for Davis? A solid starting pitcher? A reliever? Another bat?

Not a huge sample size, but just thought I'd throw down some years with similar PA's.

Looks like he's trying to force his way back to Arlington.
