Forum > ESPN Power Rankings
Would be silly to have the rankings based solely on the current season, at least at this very early juncture in the season. Would be silly to rank Kansas City (3-1) ahead of Boston (0-3) for example...Of course if it's four weeks from now and the Royals are 2.5 games up on the Sox, then it's a different story. Gradually, the rankings will move more toward actual results as the season marches on.
If you want to see a list of teams based on this weekend's records only, then look at the standings.

Power Rankings are a bit premature at this point. I'm sure most of us agree that our Rangers were the most impressive team over the opening weekend and the guys at ESPN saw enough to bump them up to # 3. But to put them ahead of their beloved Yankees or Phillies? Not gonna happen....

So Rangers (who, i believe had the best showing of any club over opening weekend) are sitting at no. 3 behind the Yanks, who went 2-1 against the Tigers, and the Phillies, who swept (but didn't always look awesome against) the woeful Astros. Meanwhile we clobbered the presumptive favorites to win the AL. I know why we're #3, but do you think the ranking is justified based solely on performance so far this season?
