Forum > Welcome, to Old School Texas Rangers

Horrible pitching and winning games by slugfest is going to be the MO for the Rangers this year. CJ and Colby will regress, and our back 3 rotation will give up 7 runs a piece every other night. Don't get your hopes up on a playoff run. We might be the ones trading away key pieces come trade deadline because our record will be horrible. Okay. Done venting now.

It's certainly starting to look that way isn't it.

Tonight Holland only lasted 4.1 innings, allowing 13 hits, 8 runs, 3 walks with 1 HR... ouch!

Concentrate on the process... it's spring training. They're all working in the direction of results.
I like Ogando's focus on his off speed. He's really developing his whole repertoire. He's getting there.

I'm kind of stunned at how much Pedro Strop has progressed this offseason, and I agree that I like Ogando fine tuning the offspeed stuff. I thin we might have a fearsome bullpen this year, with Feliz in it (although he should clearly be starting).

I'm not ready to say its the old Rangers cuz they do play D which never happened before, also I think the staff has upside and could be a above avg. staff if things go right. But in the 90s the staff just stunk and everyone knew it was gonna stink. So while I'll admit we will be in are fair share of slugfest, I still think there are reasons to have hope for this staff unlike my "father's Texas Rangers."

My BS antenna goes way up when I hear "concentrate on the process"! That's nebulous enough to make an announcer like "football fan at heart" Rhadigan move to the next question. How about asking what does the "process" involve and what results can we expect if the process is followed? Pulled Hammys, tweaked groins, pitching behind the hitter, being much less effective when pitching in the stretch and worrying way too much about a nothing runner, flat breaking pitches that leave the yard in a hurry (Holland). I love the TR's and they made the WS before I assumed room temp, so I shouldn't complain but I'm spoiled now at 72. Last years schedule was in their favor but this year looks like they'll be lucky to approach 85 wins.

@Skeletor
Why such the angst in all your post? You don't quite get the beauty of Baseball do you? It's not about the sunday picnic in the park with a great gal... but the damn frick'n, troublesome ants?

@Biggy777~
Take up yer BS Factor with Greg Maddux and Mike, his Brother. That's how they approach pitching.
Last time I heard, that's what ST is actually about, unless you're Chris Davis. Now there's process.

The mid-2000s Ranger teams were laughable on defense. Run prevention isn't only about pitching, and the current Ranger squad has plenty of talent in both gloves and arms.
