Forum > Mitch Moreland in LF...
That's badass.
You could have a Davis/Napoli 1st base platoon, and Murphy and Moreland could split time in left field although they are both left handed.
Joe
I would say that Davis and Moreland have deserved a starting spot somewhere on the field more than Borbon has this spring. Send Borbon down, bring up another arm for the bullpen and go with that. I think that lineup is much tougher.
Taylor
If you think Moreland should start ahead of Murphy on the outfield you know less than Joe.
Arlington Lifer
Meh...
This goes to show Moreland's actual value.
LF is a subprime defensive position and yet putting him there in the 8 hole in an AL lineup is some great thing? I've long seen MM as a bottom quintile guy who will steal PAs from CD and the rest of the roster.
His production last year was ceiling....and even at that he's below AVG AL 1B
Pull T
The Org ought to concentrate on how to solidify Center, with a Field General.
This Ranger team is a great defensive team to have such weakness in prime CF.
HubZ
Mitch showed he could play with the big leaguers last year Pull T... When in Chris Davis's last 3 chances has he proven that he belongs in the same ballpark as those guys?
It would be a little different if Mitch was really struggling through ST and Davis was lighting it up. Mitch is right there with Davis in production through ST, and he stepped up big for the Rangers last season when it mattered most. While I don't really like the thought of playing him in LF over Murphy, I definitely think he deserves to be on the roster before Davis.
I agree with HubZ. The organization should look at a way to shore up CF defensively. Hamilton is not the answer in center. He's average at best in center field with a plus arm. Borbon definitely has the range to play there, but his head is about five levels behind his body, and he's got a macaroni arm. I would figure we will roll with him, and if/when he fails, he will get sent back down and either Hamilton will move back over to center, or the club will trade for Marlon Byrd.

With Chris Davis giving the Rangers and ultimatum and Mitch Moreland still performing great in Spring Training what's the only way to make everyone happy? I'd say forget Borbon, too many errors he can be my 4th and 5th outfielders with Andres Blanco unfortunately not making the Major League Roster.
