Totally agree on the bats, not to mention the safety aspect.
I know Stilson is likely a 1st round pick, but tap the breaks on his stats. He's thrown against Le Moyne (who???) and Gonzaga so I wouldn't give his stats much significance yet. Hopefully he'll get to throw against some better comp soon.

I still plan on doing that scouting report on Garrett Buechele at OU for Joey.

I go to Vanderbilt and it's been awesome being able to watch such a good team, taking 2 of 3 from Stanford was great.
The new bats kill so many balls that previously rocketed out, I've only seen 3 HR this year but about 15-20 catches in deep OF and on the track, which is no fun. Better for scouting but less fun to watch in my opinion.

How do the new bats sound? Is it a crack instead of a ping now?

They definitely don't sound like wood.
I've only hit with one model, a Demarini Voodoo (half composite), but it was way less "ping" than the old style alloy bats, but not quite as "crack" as the last generation of composite bats that were all banned. If you get a new style all alloy bat, it will be more "ping", obviously

They sound slightly metallic, but more hollow than anything. The crushed balls I have seen make almost a "donk" sound, I find it to be pretty funny honestly.

New bats bring back the small ball. Time to use more strategy in the game.

The bat change is awesome and Stilson is a stud. He sits in the 94-96 range and touches 99. Has a sick slider and changeup he throws for strikes. He was a closer last year but had 2 or 3 inning saves quite a bit. Had a 0.80 ERA last year and 12.99 K/9. He doesn't walk guys and is hard to hit. He will be a 1st rounder for sure.

Gerrit Cole is proving why he's a top 3 pick this year. Dude's a freaking stud

Just watched Matt Purke carve up Texas Tech like it was a video game. He gave up 1 weak dribbler in 6 innings. Also the new bats are very different IMO. The pop from the old aluminum bats is gone. These bats are much closer to wood.

I don't know where I was when this change happened but I am glad college baseball has forced the bats to be more like wood bats. Should be easier to scout college hitters now that you have an idea what they can do without an aluminum bat.
Also, I was checking out Texas A&M stats and John Stilson looks good. 15 IP, 18 K, 1 BB, 0 Runs.
