Forum > #7 Hitter~"Black Hole" 2010

The production from #7 batting order, was abysmal in 2010.
I won't go through the numbers, seeing most will do it anyway.
This is a BIG set up position... how to improve the rally kill hole?

Well, Arias, Traenor, Molina, Smoak and Cantu took up 2/3s of the PAs in the 7 hole

Mitch and Murphy took most of the rest and they just hit like crap in that slot.

Problem solved?

I would think replacing Davis/Smoak with Moreland solves that problem right out. Now, Yorvit and Borbon will have to hit to keep 8/9 from being Black Holes.

I think Wash may have Young slotted in 7th

03APR~
In TODAY's view, the "Black Hole 7th" is certainly pertinent, with all the big bats showing muscle.

What I should have said is; "Wash should have Young slotted at 7th" . Certainly NOT 5th, which is a great slot for Nelli's RBI Bat.

As much as I'm rooting for him still, CD was a humongous black hole there for a lot of the year, and literally not having a catcher who could hit his own weight sucked big time too. Moreland brought a lesser but more than adequate glove, but a huge huge OBP bump at 1b.... Torrealba/Napoli is a HUGE upgrade at C, and it's looking like Borbon is finding his groove.

Pertinent TODAY?

That black hole is .428 with 3 runs, 3 rbi a HR and a walk as of TODAY.

Stick to writing limericks, chief...

In fairness, Bengie Molina could have posted solid offensive #s for a Catcher and still not hit his own weight.

On an unrelated note, Mike Napoli's forearms look like thigh muscles. Dude is built.
