Forum > Trade Proposals

Imagine you are the GM for the Texas Rangers in 2011. With the exception of a Michael Young trade, what other possible trade proposals would you make up-to and before the trading-deadline? Also, if you can think of any possible signings out of the remaining free agent market, include them as well. Try to remain as realistic as possible with your proposals.

I'm pretty interested in what Scott Podsednik might have left. He's a remaining FA. I also think there's a surprising amount of trade buzz around Darren O'Day. I would not be at all surprised to see him dealt prior to Opening Day with Tatayama (another submarine RHP) given his spot. They didn't sign Tatayama for no reason. I would also be shopping Chris Davis heavily. He needs a frsh start. The Cubs are said to have interest in both, and have some interesting mid-grade prospects.

Finally, I would call the Mets once a week to enquire about the availability and health of Johan Santana, Carlos Beltran, and David Wright. My gut tells me that at some point the Mets go Fire Sale, and I want to be first in line.

Jeremy Bonderman is still on the market. I think I'd go something like 2 to 3 years at between 5 and 8 mil per year.

@ arp: Seriously? He shouldn't get anything more than a 1 year deal at 3 mil tops

Really the trade market is quite thin now so any major trades (besides MY) will have to wait at least til June, then we will have a better idea of what teams are gonna be dealing

Ryan,
Bonderman isn't some scrub back of the rotation pitcher. If Webb does what bonderman did last year he will get at least 2 years at 5 mil.

Bonderman, over the last three years:

252.2 IP, 5.31 ERA, 5.7 K/9, 3.7 BB/9, 1.4 HR/9

If it quacks like a duck ...

I wouldn't give you two cents for Carlos Beltran at this point in his career. Santana's been under the knife for a second straight season. David Wright? Good player, strikes out waaaay too much, but doesn't fit a need on this club.
