What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I may be completely taking him out of context, but Hamilton made some interesting comments concerning where he plays. It was basically that whether he's playing LF/CF or anywhere else, he wants to play the position that puts the team in the best position to win. And then he said - and I quote - "I'll play where I'm told."
I don't think it's too far of a stretch to think that was at least partially directed towards MY. I thought the same thing when I read his quotes. I also got the feeling that both he and the Rangers hope he stays a Ranger long term and this deal wont live out it's 2 years. But who knows
Someone in the blogosphere that Jamey linked to had a note about how Kinsler was surprisingly neutral in his comments. He probably is Young's BFF on the team, so you'd think he'd have at least said he understands where MY is coming from, but instead he said he really loves being a member of the Rangers.
Made me wonder just how far out in left field Mikey is if he can't get anybody on the team to come to his defense. Did he really begin to get pissed as soon as they signed Beltre, then the trade for Napoli (after several other DHs were courted, apparently) became the final straw? If so, he's not mad because he was lied to. He's mad because they went out and found 9 better players than him.
Hamilton's comments certainly had positive undertones for 'the team'.Of course, that's what WE as fans, expect from "The New Face"~ Rangers.I welcome his Leadership, during this trial & error, of what's transpired withthe Michael Young Debacle. Hamilton has stepped up quickly and thoughtfully. He's really coming into his own. His personal growth is showing in maturityand talent. He address' his past openly and moves forward to the future. Gee,what a concept! Sounds almost Face & Leadership Quality. I see it that way.
Hope nobody tells him to play in a bar.
Personally I love this statement from Josh. I believe it's directed straight toward Michael, and nobody better than the MVP of Major League Baseball to straight up say, "I will play wherever I'm told to play because I get paid a shitload of money to do so."
Why else would Josh say something like that? You know it's pissing the other guys off that Michael is in a pay grade well north of them, yet in a production grade well south of them, and he has the balls to bitch about his "unfair" treatment which happens to be in the best interest of the club.
I also get the feeling that Josh wants to become the new face of the Rangers. Hell, he practically is already anyway. Another season like 2008 and 2010 could very well do it for him. I think Michael has burned some old wooden bridges that at this point just really aren't worth rebuilding.
I love that JH said it and it just backs up my opinion of him: he IS the Face and has been since 2008 in the Home Run hitting contest.
@TheNatural, I agree with you that Josh is probably now the new face. I don't think he needs another season like '08 or '10 though. Young never had a season close to Josh's '08 or '10.
