Just names within the realm of possibility here. No explanation.

Carlos Lee

I would trade Michael Young and Mitch Moreland and pay $15 mil of Young's contract to the Dodgers for James Loney, Jonathan Broxton and a prospect. I'd throw in more money to get that done.

Looking at some Dodger message boards the fans are saying things like that for Young.

nothing. I would release him.

nothing. Screw the prima donna - release him.

Jinx pryor I owe ya beer.

I like that trade idea although I feel Moreland and Loney will end up being a wash. With that kind of money thrown in I would want a top 5 prospect.

Prospects. The farm has been depleted and needs a good restocking.

A team pizza party.

The trouble with just releasing the prima donna, James, is you still have to pay him. Maybe that doesn't bother some people, but I'm sure the idea is less than appealing to the Rangers.

(And before anybody asks, if you just release him and another team signs him, the other team is obligated for only the major league minimum. The Rangers will still be paying the freight.)

February 9, 2011 at 2:17 PM | Unregistered Commenterrbt

Make him shut up and DH. That is probably the most value that the Rangers can get from him.

February 9, 2011 at 2:21 PM | Unregistered CommenterBP

Oh I understand that. In the real world, you try to get some idiots who think he'll be an adequate second baseman and you pawn him off on them. You pay almost half of his salary (thus saving yourself $26 or $28 million dollar.)

The forum question wasn't, "What would the RangersI do.."

And that's what I would do. But if I owned the team, I'd find a sucker to take half his salary.

A Carlos Lee trade would make sense. He's perfectly poised for a comeback season - just can't have Wash ever play him in the outfield

Id perfer Lee but what about Jason Bay?

Bobby Abreu

Martin, I agree about Jason Bay.. I know he signed a big deal with them last offseason and was injured, but if he comes back he could be a good fit in the DH role and left field

I think I'd be ok with Carlos Lee, I don't think much of Houston's front office though. I'm really hoping something gets done with the Dodgers but their divorce situation isn't likely to let any major things happen there. I actually wouldn't mind sending him to the Angels as long as we can get something top of the line for him but I don't see that happening.

February 9, 2011 at 4:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterMarktown

If Young would approve the trade, I would send him to Toronto for Juan Rivera and Brett Lawrie.

February 9, 2011 at 5:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterUncle Ernie

Im hoping for
1.Lee
2.Bay
3.Abreu

But i dont think MY would accept a trade to the Mets i think he wants to screw the Rangers and make them give him up for nothing.

On Bay i think he could hit 40+ HRs in Arlington

The Phillies are interested. Though talks have since been stymied, I would love a MY, Hunter, prospect trade for Joe Blanton

February 9, 2011 at 6:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterSkeletor

Yuck! Avrage Joe Blanton? Ill pass it would just bring back the bad taste from Cliff Lee leaving

Ironic how he wants to go to a contender....hell, he was part of a contender until he let his mouth overload his ass and whizzed away his second real chance at a pennant. He ought to have to beg for a job, wherever he winds up.

I hate that they can't trade him to Cleveland....I guess the cold weather wouldn't hurt his defense any....I wonder if he has any clue yet how big an ass this is making him look?
