What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
Trade coming... Ryan said he tried to gauge possibility of Young changing mind. "I think he's made his decision and it's in his best interests to move on." Daniels "It's not fair to talk about specific teams that we have talked to.'' when asked about the Rockies Daniels said it's "cleanest if we reach deal with one of the clubs on the eight-team list.'' Colorado is on that list.

Does anyone know the other 7 teams on the list, Dodgers, Cards, who else?
Is it possible the Rangers could consider trading Kinsler instead of Young?
I know he is a great player and that is why, perhaps, we could get a much better deal by trading him. Of course I don't want to trade Kinsler in place of Young but if we could make the team better that way maybe it would be worth it.
Maybe the Rockies would be interested in Kinsler. Of course we would have to get a lot back in return but who knows?
If the Rangers value speed, hitting, and defense at 2B they don't trade Kinsler just to keep people overly-attached to the FOF happy. Unless the Rockies gives us Ubaldo Jimenez. You don't trade Kinsler.
For the life of me I don't understand why we don't cal Tampa Bay and trade MY for Josh johnson.
That would probably be because Josh Johnson doesn't play for Tampa Bay ;)
Ryan, that's the point, Tampa might actually say yes to a Johnson for Young deal.
I don't think that was Martin, probably jdb.
Of course you don't trade Kinsler just to keep MY. You would have to get a really good improvement for him in Center Field or in the starting rotation.
Another bad contract out there is Carlos Lee - remember him? 1 for 1 deal, with Texas kicking in some cash? Lee is DH for 5 games a week and never sees the OF.
Would you, if you were JD?
Lee had a .700 OPS last year in 600 at bats, I'd take Murphy and Napoli in a DH platoon over him.
It sure seems to me that we either need a CF, a starter, or a closer to do this deal.
JD talks about making the club better. Frankly, it sure seems like the only way that is going to happen is if we add one of those three components. I wonder if JD would be willing to trade Young if someone would simply take his salary. From what JD and Nolan said it seems like that is not the case, it seems like they want value in return that makes the team better even after the loss of MY.
The deal that makes the most sense to me would be Young + cash in exchange for Lopez and Street. You can try to put Blanco in AAA for insurance, and add Gentry perhaps. Street would close, giving the team not only some options back there, but some depth too. I don't know if that makes Texas better or not - perhaps. Lopez is an offensive upgrade over Blanco. Getting Street would help with the loss of Franky.
It's costly, though.
I'm thinking since everyone knows TX is desperate to trade him, they will low ball - which means probably all the TX involved parties are just going to have to deal with the awkwardness and agree to come together and play ball for the good of the team. I think in the end Mike can and will do that.
I also expect Texas would have to give Colorado a prospect in the above scenario - maybe even Kirkman or Hurley - if they aren't willing to swallow much or most of Young's salary.
