Forum > Michael Young has officialy requested a trade
Its looking like it... Ryan said he tried to gauge possibility of Young changing mind. "I think he's made his decision and it's in his best interests to move on." Daniels "It's not fair to talk about specific teams that we have talked to.'' when asked about the Rockies Daniels said it's "cleanest if we reach deal with one of the clubs on the eight-team list.'' Colorado is on that list.

...In Truth?
I read TR Sullivan's interview with Josh Hamilton.
It comes out much softer and genuine, than what
we've come to understand, from other Press clips.
Mike Young has been portrayed as a Diva, which
he certainly is not. I fell for the BS, like most, and it
obviously showed my discontent. This all has been
handled badly. Why do we have to make this fiasco
show going East Coast Postal, close to the Jeter bit?
I fell for it too. I should have trusted my sources and
certainly my gut instincts. Where's Howard Cosell,
when one needs an interview that is really objective?

According to tweets linked at mlbtraderumors, Young is not willing to expand the list of 8 teams that he cannot block a trade to.
So, for now, he's not looking to get out of Texas at all costs. I think he's simply focused on improving his situation (eg, playing in the field everyday for a competitive team). If a trade doesn't happen soon, I wonder how he will react. Will he accept a trade to a struggling team in order to get out of Texas? Will he back down from his request and accept his DH/utility role? Or will he ratchet up the 'unhappy' vibes and try to force his way out?

Young has never once been one to be a diva. We would have no reason to believe he is going to "ratchet up the unhappy vibes" and force his way out. Hopefully, since it appears neither the player nor the team are going to come out ahead, he accepts his reduced role and plays his @$$ off this year to help us get back to the WS.

So much for hearth and home. They squeezed him and he squeezed bac, just in time for the moving van to leave for Surprise with ST bats and balls. You can only prod and poke so many times until the prodded pokes back.

Why not give MY the first base job? Moreland looks good but so did Davis until the AL pitchers got a book on him. Young starts at first, Moreland on the bench or Round Rock. Maybe MY is not such a defensive liability at first. His trade value will be greater at the ASB and we will be 5 or more games behind the As by then. At that point, use him to rebuild the farm, bring Mitch back and start thinking about 2012.

Will the Rangers honor his request?
