Only a matter of time now.

Is MY the one who made this decision or did he just cave to the FO's efforts to get him to say he wants out?

Is the FO responding to his request for a trade or is he responding to their pressure to ask for a trade?

I'm pretty pissed if he is responding to their pressure as opposed to making the decision himself.

MY has thrown a little hissy fit every time he is asked to change his role. Why would we assume anything else? I guarantee if I did this at my job when my job responsibilities changed, I wouldn not be treated so gently. My ass would be at home. Also MY will make more on this paycheck then I will in the next few years combined, so there is not much sympathy from me. Being only 24, MY has been part of the Rangers for over half the time I have rooted for them, but I am sick of his tirades. He needs to shut up, do his job, or leave.

Joe,

Relax big guy. We don't need Matches shutting down another thread because of personal attacks. Keep it to baseball.

That being said, it would actually help MY's career to go to a place like Colorado. He would still be able to play every day so his value would be higher. I love MY and have said I hope he stays, but if he truly wants a trade, I think it is worth exploring.

LFloyd (one of my favorite poster, sharp young guy:))
If Michael wants to go, we should try to find a sensible trade for him and us, but that is a very difficult task.
In these kind of situations, somebody will have to bite the dust.
Paying him 8-10 mil to hit around .300 for Colorado and getting a "song" for him, means the Rangers are the ones who are being buried and shoveling the dust.

@Steve,
I think you speak truth. Having watched this franchise struggle to achieve success for so many years and then experience some, it is with regret I watch as the reverse seems to be happening as the bright spots in the Roster are squandered. It is like some diabolical plot to make sure nothing is achieved or maintained. All of these so called saviours have weak spots, as does MY. Sometimes, the Devil you know is better than the Devil you don't know.
I like Baseball and players come and players go so I root for what the Rangers have but where others see improvement, I see potential regression. It seems as if MY has been goaded into seeking redress through a trade to somewhere that values his contribution. He will go into the Baseball Hall of Fame someday wearing another uniform, much like Pudge, who walked the halls at Ranger's headquarters looking for someone to want him before leaving and getting recognized elsewhere. I remember when Pudge was first called up as a teenager. After success and accolades some 'Wise' soul suggested that Catchers legs give out after so many games behind the plate. So, Pudge hit the bricks. What 10-12 years later and he is still catching...Not as spry but none-the-less. He has a ring and MVP but all of his naysayers are still experts and none have seen anything close to success until last season. How many have moved on to find a rainbow pot of gold of security and growth? I hope he finds happiness and success beyond his years here. Finally, hard work and good character have no market in DFW. So, what do I tell the kids that I take to ballgames, "Work hard and keep your nose clean and you will....Get Screwed, when you make three moves to less favorable positions and then when you accept the move to your highest level of incompetence you will get blindsided." I think there was once a book titled, "The Peter Principle" that explained it. MY was good at 2B but he moved to a more demanding position for the good of the team because no one explored moving Soriano to LF. He wasn't as good at SS but then he moved for the good of the team to 3B to let a better, younger SS move up so he went to another inferior position at 3B. He was less effective and older. Now, if he moves it is to another team and back to 2B. What a revolting development this is. Pay Backs are a "B."

I think with MY publicly saying he wants a trade will help increase his market. I believe deep down Colorado want him but to this point there haven't been any other suitors. I expect JD to flush something out better than what is currenty being discussed. I would love to add Street but I am not optimistic Colorado would do that.

Tell MY that if he "wants" a trade then we'll be happy to trade him, but ANY amount of money that we have to "eat" we expect him to eat. I bet he and his agent will change their tune immediately.

This whole bit is becoming as Jeter's. We need the truth to be unveiled.
I don't want to come out of this personally, with a bad taste hangover.
I much prefer a more positive truthful view. Some "balanced interview"
certainly is welcomed. Walking eggshells, after our 2010 Glory Ride?
We fans deserve much better.
