@scooby- the thing is, Kemp isn't expensive. On the open market, he would be paid vastly more. Plus, if the issue with Kemp is cost, then how would a Young/Borbon trade package help this? We'd be trading them someone who costs more than twice as much. I suppose if the rangers picked up more than half of Young's salary then it would make financial sense for the Dodgers, otherwise, the argument that Kemp can be had BECAUSE of cost is only viable if we aren't trading them players that are expensive.

My point is, you can pick up half of Young's salary and make it make financial sense for LA. Whereas to deal for a Rasmus or a Kershaw, you'd have to eat all of oung's salary (and give more in prospects). Kemp is likely to cost $17m over the remaining 2 years of club control. Guys are "cheap" through their arb 1 season. Once they hit the final 2 arb years, they get "expensive".

"They have no farm system and are strapped for cash.."
Not true, per Keith Law they have the 15th ranked system, right behind us at 12, and they actually have 4 guys ranked in his top 100, as opposed to our 2 in the top 100
