Forum > Angels send Napoli to Blue Jays, Get Vernon Wells in Return
Yall's thoughts?
Garrett
Vernon Wells Sr. has to be heartbroken.
Lfloyd
From my standpoint, this is a bad trade for the Angels.. Rosenthal reported that Juan Rivera will be inlcuded, opening the door for the angels to sign pods... But still doesnt this mean the rangers are the clear favorites for manny?
Garrett
Wait! Doesn't Vernon Wells always kill the Rangers?
Skeletor
Good deal for the Jays to unload Wells and get some fairly usable players. Have to wait and see what else other than cash was exchanged.

It doesn't necessarily make the Rangers the front runners. The Rays are signing Johnny Damon, but may be able to get enough money to sign Manny to DH. The Orioles are the front runners for Vladimir Guerrero, but the Angels haven't checked out on him. The Angels could go after Podsednik for LF, and move Abreu to DH. But Abreu wont be a bench player. So if they sign someone like Manny or Vlady they will be looking to to trade Abreu.
Taylor
Rays have just agreed on terms with Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez.
Taylor
Man the Angels just bumfunked themselves.
It's like hey, can I trade you this twenty dollar bill for a fiver, a sack of marbles, and a swift kick in the nuts?
Seriously they could have had Beltre for that money, saved Napoli and Rivera for an increased value trade later, or whatever the hell they wanted.
What a bunch of idiots!

Where did the "Wells kills the Rangers" thing come from?
Career slash - .280 / .329 / .475
vs Rangers Slash - .277 / .331 / .494
A slight increase, but he's not Vlad 2.0....

Wow, this news shocked me... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/01/blue-jays-to-acquire-mike-napoli.html#disqus_thread Does this open the door to sign manny?
