Forum > Thome out! Manny in?!
I'm actually not opposed to the idea.

Let the games begin
I think I prefer other benefits to a Manny bat (or other) with the sole possible factor that could sway me being the possibility of a Hamilton/Cruz bat going down with prolonged injury. Even then I'm not that convinced.
Just go with what we have and let Davis and Gentry try to make the team. I would like a CF platoon of Borbon and Gentry. Can you imagine the defense in that scenario with Hamilton moving to LF, Cruz, in Right, the big three defensive infielders, all while locking in Moreland's over MY's defense at 1st base. And we could rest Hamilton and Cruz at DH for 40-60 games while Young plays 1B, 2B, and 3B (not equally broken down of course). I am just no longer convinced that we need another big bat considering our offensive depth with Murphy (who could play a lot of DH and LF) and Moreland. We would have two fairly week offensive positions in CF and catcher though.

Thome is headed back to Minnesota as of this morning. Now I'm hearing Manny Ramirez is on the Rangers' radar. Does anybody else think this is one of the worst ideas in the history of time?
