What is your opinion of the A.J. Pierzynski signing?
MJH on accountability
I just realized there is no room for Gentry and Thome or Gentry and Davis.
I know you dont want Thome but this question is for your Scooby.
Consider the potential benefits of not signing Thome which include playing Murphy at DH when MY plays the field, resting Hamilton and Cruz at DH when MY plays the field, making space for a Gentry/Borbon platoon in CF, taking away significantly less playing time from Moreland at 1st base, avoiding a potential clubhouse problem if MY is awful at 1st and Wash has to go with Moreland ahead of him while Thome is preferred at DH against RHP. avoiding a potential situation where MY provides sub par defense at 1st but is preferred because of his clubhouse leadership, keeping Hamilton out of CF to protect our most important asset, adding even better defense in CF against LHP, locking in Moreland's superior 1st base defense over that of MY, and avoiding Thome's dead defensive weight and lack of flexibility.
Isn't it just the kid in you that would favor a "dream" offensive lineup over all of these benefits?
I'm on the fence on Thome? What sayest thou BBTIA readers?
I posted the question of whether we should NOT sign Thome for all of these benefits in another forum post.
Hope you will weigh in there.....
yeah lets sign a slow 41 yr old with absolutely no versatility.
No one HATES Borbon! But we do HATE people who ask 'why everyone hates borbon'.
Geting more ABs for Murphy, Young, Moreland, Gentry is not so much a benefit of not getting Thome but a decent alternative to not getting such a wonderful bat.
I think we're seeing Murphy's ceiling now, which is OK bat, OK glove, great attitude. Borbon is already superior in the OF because of his blazing speed, and I doub't we've seen his ceiling at the plate.
Will, speak for yourself. And calm down.
Pretty sure Will is the new jdb as is andy in arlington, bob, and bill.
So do what we have done in the past and ignore him.
JOE, You must not be ignoring him if you think those names were posted by him. Whoever he is he has clearly gotten under your skin.
Will, you are right, he has gotten under my skin a little. Mostly I say people should ignore him (you) because it is not pleasant to read his (your) posts, and it is even more unpleasant to read a big f you exchange between people.
I think Bosley just needs to tell Borbon to swing for the fences sometimes to address his timidity at the plate.
