Forum > make a trade!!!!

Right now, the rangers are good. Good but not great. With the team the way it is now, they prolly will make the playoffs. But after going to the ws last year, the rangers are a team that shouldn't be satisfied with just being there, now that they have a taste of winning, its time to actually get a championship. But I don't think were strong enough to win the ws with the team we have.

Deal 1. Trade for sizemore. He has one year left on his contract, the idians are rebuiding and need prospects. Borbon hasn't worked out like we hoped. And if sizemore doesn't work out, he's gone after the season and we have borbon to fall back on.

Deal 2. Trade for shields. Let's face it, our rotation is filled with really good, middle rotation guys. We don't have a guy that another team says, oh great we have to face him tmrw. I don't see webb being our ace this year, let alone our number 3. But getting another solid, young pitcher, we now have a very solid rotation to comliment cj and colby. Cj, colby, webb, shields, hunter is a very good rotation.

Deal 3. Trade for sizemore and carmona. I would absolutley love this deal. The rangers get an ace and a quality cf/ leadoff man. The cost in prospects might be high, but not as high as our grienke deal. Our lineup and rotation goes from good to great. Something that other teams will fear.

Any thoughts???

I wouldn't hate the idea of Sizemore being our leadoff hitter, but any deal involving Grady would probably involve Borbon (if not Engel Beltre.) And Sizemore's value has never been lower. He is coming off of an injury and has been injured several times over the last couple of years. I don't think the Indians will move him before the season. If he has a good first half his value will be much higher and the Indians will move him then. His salary isn't too high so the salary dump isn't exactly neccessary.

As for Shields, now that the Rays have traded Garza they are more likely to keep Shields. Much like Sizemore, Shields' value is rather low so Tampa would be smart to see if he has a good first half.

What about Carlos Beltran? he was hurt the last few years for the mets like Grady and when hes healthy hes one of the best CF in baseball i know he has a much higher salary then Grady Sizemore but the mets could eat most of that salary or the Rangers could take it all on and not give up any good prospects I belive this is his last year not sure about that though and I dont really know about his D but im sure his CF UZR is alot better then Murphys -80

My thoughts on the rangers missing out in garza and greinke: these top prospects better be good as advertised

I have a suspicion that they are still holding out hope that Florida Marlins will change their mind about trading Josh Johnson and thus they are trying to keep their elite prospects.

I really hope we start to see some if that young front line pitching soon. This organization has always struggled in that area. We need a true homegrown ace to take the next step.

I think were going to have one in cj.

LOL, Shields? If we are talking Price, Felix, Johson, then ok, I will see giving up major prospects.

But for Shields, he would just provide another quality arm, but not of the quality that we do not currently have.

We might have one in CJ, but even he was stuck in the bullpen for several years. He is a free agent next year and if he repeats or improves on last year's performance he stands to make a huge pay day.

Don't be daft.

My comment was aimed at this thread in general, which suggests Texas should "make a trade, any trade." I'd rather have Feldman and Murphy than Sizemore and Carmona - and it wouldn't cost any prospects, it's cheaper... etc. That trade would make very little sense, and anyway, Sizemore used to be a top talent - why on earth would Cleveland try to move him when his value is at an all-time low?

TB just got rid of Garza - why are they going to trade away Shields, too? And is he really much of an improvement over any of their #4 guys? I don't think so.

These forum posts have been really wacky lately - can we stop playing fantasy baseball and talk about the real Rangers and real baseball? Please?

I'll agree that this Beltre signing really increased the activity in the forum section of BBTIA, and some of it is kind of ridiculous. I don't classify trading for Sizemore as ridiculous, I still don't think it is likely or too smart. Sizemore is likely to have trade value mid season, but now he has little to none. If at mid season he is sitting around .300 with 10 HR then I say we trade for him. A left handed bat like his, if healthy, at the top of our lineup would be nice. If we gave up Engel Beltre or Borbon in a deal for a healthy Sizemore I wouldn't be too upset, but all of that is months away.

MY at catcher would be perfect! All you have to do is sit back there and catch the ball, my grandma could do that. lol Scooby, good one.
