Forum > Signing Beltre Close or Not Close At All?

Which is it! So ESPNDeportes and other reports says were close, but T.R. keeps on saying that there is nothing imminent. Are we close or not close at all?

Skeletor, the Rangers have the details worked out, but the deal all hinges on whether MY will switch postiions. TR has new column up where JD is going to sign a right handed hitter that can play DH and play postions "in the field" http://texas.rangers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20110103&content_id=16385138&vkey=news_tex&c_id=tex

I was becoming more and more skeptical until the report that Nolan or JD had reached out to MY about another position change. There would be no reason to talk to him about it if something werent about to happen and Beltre is the only guy on the market that would make a MY position change likely. I think by this time tomorrow, we will know for sure if Beltre will be a Ranger.
Also, not only would I not be shocked to see MY traded after this goes down, I could see him demanding a trade like he did for a few days during the 08-09 offseason. If he wanted a trade then, he will certainly want a trade now with no specific role for him

Good point Ryan, sign Beltre and work something out with MY then sign Soriano, if needed incase Feliz works out great at SP. Wouldn't the Angels be pissed! Do you guys think we will get Beltre?
