Forum > Reports: Michael Young wants to stay at 3rd base
uhhh the Rangers shoulda traded young to Boston 2 years ago when the Rangers had the chance.. And they should have traded Teagarden and Salty for Bucholtz but hindsight is 20/20...

LOL can you imagine if Theo Epstein would have really offered Buchholtz in exchange for both Salty and Teagarden?
WWJDD?

Via MLB Trade Rumors circa 2009:
The Red Sox "remain uninterested in the Rangers' proposal from a few months ago of Jarrod Saltalamacchia for Clay Buchholz." Buchholz has allowed one run, nine Ks, and two walks in 8.6 innings this spring.

so would beltre play first? or could he ? and would he be any good?
petras
young would have a lot longer career playing at first base and he would be a lot better defensively than most think.....he could fill in at any infield position in emergency....very valuable and good hitter....keep moreland one more year to grade his value. pinch hitter and sub first base against some tough righties...

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=5985468 My take- Good idea to talk with Young - but certainly NOT to ask him where he wants to play. Young has demonstrated his professionalism - and has been an incredible leader for the team. BUT - the GM has to make decisions for the best of the team - not to appease a single (even the most gracious and professional) player!
Young's range has diminished significantly. He needs to play where the team/GM/coaches write him in - not where he deems best. The GM and Coach are responsible for W&L's - no player is. They will be held accountable. Young's time is best served at this juncture of his career at DH/utility infielder.
