Forum > OT: Dirkless Mavs suck
Really couldve used Brandon Bass
Martin
I wish we had a better option at PF, but theres no way Bass would have gotten as many minutes as he does in Orlando behind Marion and Terry.
I still say we need a scorer or at least a player who's more consistent than what we got now.
K-Mart
Bass was a PF and hes been playin pretty beast lately wasnt he a restricted FA? i dont really understand how that works but couldnt the Mavs have matched the highest offer?
Maybe the Mavs do trade for Kevin Martin. The Rockets arent going anywhere this year
Martin
And it's beautiful! Sorry, not every Ranger's fan is a Mav's fan, and after the cocky antics JET and Chandler displayed in OKC the other night, I hope they lose 10 in a row.

Sorry, but I hate the Mavs, mostly Dirk (mostly because we've had more trouble beating you guys than the freaking Lakers). This is one reason why I wish they would realign the conferences and put OKC in with the Mavs. It's a perfect rivalry because most OKC fans feel the same way. It would at least be great to meet in the second round of the playoffs assuming OKC wins their division or finishes 4th or 5th and the Mavs finish 1st or 2d.
Skeletor
So what? i dont like the cowboys and i do like the Thunder just not as much as my Mavs
Martin
Its not really much of a rivalry i think the supersonics had a better rivalry with the mavs then the thunder do and they are a REALLY good team,
Martin
I'm just saying, I was at that game, and JET and Chandler taunting the crowd at the end seemed kind of classless and was particularly acute after the choke job the Thunder just pulled. In reality, I know most people here love the Mavs. They are good team, and I don't really have a logical reason for not liking them (like I do the Heat per se) other than Dirk is the ugliest guy in the NBA with Steve Nash being a close second.
Skeletor
It's not a rivalry yet, but might be if they met in the playoffs. One of the OKC beat writers had an articled about this the other day, saying that the only negative about the move is that OKC now really has no rivals. The Lakers don't really count because everyone wants to beat them.
Skeletor
Ugh. This teams needs a spark. Defense is what it is. Offense on the other hand is just....ugh.
God why couldn't they have pulled the trigger for Raymond Felton a couple of years ago. The only real options I see them going with are Iggy and Kev Martin. Although i'm not sold on AI offensively and K-Mart makes me want to throw up defensively. OJ Mayo would be interesting, but he seems to be to be missing his soul.
Roddy can't come back soon enough. The eiffel tower and the French torpedo tearing it up would be nice. A man can dream, a man can dream.
K-Mart
What is the deal with OJ Mayo? He seemed to be a good breakout player coming into this year and then lost his job to an undrafted player.
Skeletor
Hows Golden State doing? is Monta Ellis available?
Martin
@Skeletor
He's been playing better as of late, but the way he started out the season was pretty depressing to watch
Then again, I'd also be depressed if I was playing with a team that isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
K-Mart
@Martin
I'm pretty sure GS would trade him if a good offer popped up, but that contract makes him hard to move.
You could trade him with Haywood + Barrea straight up, but they'd never take that. They already have Curry, so they wouldn't wan't Roddy. Unless you offered them Dirk or Butler, there's nothing here that's worth their time looking over.
K-Mart
They need someone who can create their own offense.
You mean settling for contested mid-range jumpers ad infinitum doesn't get your heart racing?
Joey Matschulat
With JET in the tank or at least his shot, Otherwise the Mavs looked good to be playing the Spurs w/o Dirk. O.J. would do well coming off of the Mavs bench but I'm not sure he would be any better than the missing "French Connection."
JET just has to Light it up more often in those big games. I wonder about Brandon Bass not getting off of the bench.
Tom B
@ Skeletor - It's only a rivalry if both teams see each other as a threat. No way OKC is seen as a threat by the Mavs. They are too young with no veteran leadership. Mavs are loaded with veteran leadership.
Remember when the Mavs beat the Jazz in the 99 - 00 playoffs? That was basically when Stockton and Malone were at the end of their careers. That's what you're hoping will happen with this team. I just think you guys have another year or two until that actually becomes a reality. Plus you don't have an owner like Cuban who will stop at nothing to get guys in who want to win a championship.
Rossi
@Joey
no.....
K-Mart
People actually watch the NBA? Interesting.
Marktown
Bad time to admit to being a Spurs fan? In my defense I cheer for whatever team I grew up geographically closest to. Mavs are my second favorite, but when they play head-to-head I cheer for the Spurs. But to echo marktown, who cares about basketball?
Lfloyd
Blow Jet up, Neuter Marion, Lobotomize Haywood, Send JJ to the sun, and kick Cardinal and Novak right in the jewels.
K-Mart
The Mavs might have the single worst line ups in the league as of this post. Yet the bucks refuse to run away with this game.
I thought Bogut was suppose to be great. No better than Haywood I say.
/Stuck at home with the flu on a Saturday. F me.
K-Mart
JET does not know clutch from brake. Do Not let that man drive a stick shift. When Mavs need Clutch JET hits the brakes or skids. In the NBA the real season doesn't start until Jan. and the Mavs are running a MASH Unit.
Tom B

They need someone who can create their own offense.
F waiting for Roddy B. He'll come when he comes. Right now, this team's depth seems no better than any of the last couple of seasons when Dirks out.
Sure i'm panicking, but what i'm watching from them (right at this moment) show's they need some sort offensive weapon. I'd almost go with Kev Martin.
This team sucks(without Dirk.)
