Anyone else feel this way?

And a great plan that would be!

My gut feeling is that JD has one or two nifty deals up his sleeves. JD will get something done to make this team better than it was when the offseason began, and he will do it without hurting the future of the team.

"relevant" is a fairly low standard. Brandon Webb, Vlad, Derek Lee, Chris young. Not Earth shaking moves, but all could be quite "relevant" by Opening Day.

Well, should we consider Vlad a relevant acquisition?

If he's going to hit 4th, he's relevant, whether he's got anything left or not.

Scooby, just curious why Vlad is only valuable batting 4th? I think Cruz batting 4th and Vlad 5th is a better lineup for us. Cruz is a freak, and he would see more pitches with Vlad behind him than he did with Kinsler. And Josh would have better protection. The rest of the league will catch on and walk Josh more than they already do if Vlad bats 4th again.

My point was that Wash will bat him 4th, not that he should bat 4th. I'm just saying that if he's going to play everyday and hit somewhere in the middle of the lineup, then he counts as a "relevant" signing, regardless of what he's got left.

Ok I gotcha. That makes sense. I think Vlad with much more rest and batting 5th will help the team be more consistent. If we sign him we need to let him rest more. Ron is a players manager who doesn't want to make a guy take a day off (and I realize he essentially was our offense for 2 months) but I think he has got to get Vlad more rest. Let Blanco play 3rd and give MY a shot at DH. He needs to get comfortable in that role anyway because he should be a full time DH before long.

If you believe JD when he says that Josh should not be an evryday CF, then either the trio of Ham, Cruz, Murph plays LF, RF, DH or else Murph gets about 200 ABs. Murph is a better hitter than that. No need to bring a DH, and no need for Young to play a lot of DH. Let Murph have those starts.

I agree. Murphy is the answer at DH. Now we just need Julio to step up his game.

I think Murph can handle it, the part that worries me is injuries. If we lose an OF who steps in at DH?
