Forum > Fantasy Baseball Anyone?
Ixnay on the pay and I'll play.

I would be interested if less than $100. I usually play on cbs sports but I would be open to whatever. Usually just jump into a random league not knowing anyone. It would be more fun to play with BBTIA fans.

I usually do Yahoo head to head leagues. I don't do ESPN.

Im in for a league with real people I know. Keep in mind I am a college kid, and therefor, am POOR. So, I could probly spare 10 bucks max.
Philly
A decade ago, roto baseball enhanced my baseball viewing...no longer.

I'm in and I would be willing to pay a reasonable price.
Trey
I'd be down, but I too am poor and I've never actually done fantasy baseball -- but I do love baseball.

A league sounds good to me. I, like Philly, am a college student, so I don't have ample money laying around.
I've always played on MLB.com, but I acknowledge it's not a very good site. It has you choose team pitching staffs as opposed to individual players. But whatever. I'm in.

I'm a college kid too but I'm in!

First of all for those that haven't played fantasy baseball, i love it 1000 times compared to football and I'd played football for years. Now I play fantasy football to get me to next year for baseball.
I'm looking for a few guys for our league for this next year. We set lineups weekly, so it's similar to football and doesn't require daily interaction of setting lineups, etc. Much easier to deal with on a weekly basis.
We do it on CBSsportsline, draft online, etc so it would be easy to accomodate others. Aggiehoops91@yahoo.com is my email if you are interested. League fee is $50 and we have a transaction fee for add/drops, trades, etc.

I’m always interested in finding a competitive FBB league, and to ensure competitiveness I would be willing to pay a little, $20 max. I’m not familiar with “Sim Leagues”. What is the format and does it resemble a standard 5x5 roto? And as far as format, I prefer the standard 5x5 roto system, but with a large number of total players drafted, preferably well over 300. This can be done either with a lot of teams in the league, (e.g. 16 teams with 24 players per team) or with a lot of players per team (e.g. 12 teams with 30-40 players per team). This ensures enough depth to require each team to draft and manage intelligently and aggressively. Give us an address of where to go to check out the league you are setting up.
Steven
I'm in if we are playing a traditional 5x5 Roto league.
And we MUST have a live draft/ Auction! This sounds like a blast.
My vote would be for Yahoo! they seem to have the best setup and the most customizable options. I've been a commish for a league for the past few years ad would be glad to help in any capacity.

Ok, it seems we'll have plenty of people to do this. Someone asked about sim leagues. I have used www.scoresheet.com before and enjoyed it. To explain how it works would take a long post so I think it would be best to do a standard rotisserie or head to head league. I personally like how ESPN does it but I know ESPN isn't the most popular place. I'll look into Yahoo! and I'll let you all know when I get something set up and you can all look at the rules and see if you want to play. It would be free and I think that would work best so far.
Marktown
I'd be interested, but I don't want to pay too much. I've enjoyed ESPN leagues; not familiar with sim leagues.
Chris
sounds cool Marktown...

Marktown, are we talking about a live draft, or just a lottery? I'm thinking that a live draft or auction would take A LONG time with all of these people...

You can find a "Fan of Rangers" league at any of the sites, but it's really hard to weed out people who stop checking their teams midway through the season.
I'd be in for up to 100 bucks. It's like 20 bucks a month for the greatest entertainment in the world, and you might win a grand in the end.
I'd love to find enough to do a money league complete with a live meet in person draft. Either organized on here, or letting me crash another existing league.
Please contact me and let me know.

I live in Amarillo so an in person draft wouldn't work for me. I'm thinking a live online draft on some Saturday or Sunday. I looked at both Yahoo! and ESPN and both don't even have their 2011 Baseball leagues up yet so it'll be a while before there's anything concrete. I've commissioned a few leagues before and I know that 100% of people won't be happy 100% of the time so I know that there probably won't be one option that everyone is in love with but I think it'll be fun.
I haven't had a group of people to play fantasy with for a few years so maybe this can be a keeper league and keep going for a few years, who knows. I think for this we'll have a free league but I'd still be open to doing a pay league if I can get in on one.
Marktown
Marktown,
I'm down for the free league, but for those who are in town, and would like to be in a local competitive standard 5x5 league with a live draft lets try to get it together.
50-100 bucks, 2nd place gets their money back and the winner gets the rest.
Let me know if any of you are interested.

I'm poor and stupid so yeah i'd go for it.

I personally am a fan of AL only fantasy baseball. I've played head to head and roto. CBS sportsline has almost any format you could want.

Yahoo Fantasy Baseball has opened up with a lot more options to play with this year.
Marktown - do you still want to put this thing together and get it going. I will if you won't and post the league ID and password up here, or send the invites by email address?
Trey
I'm usually in a couple of leagues every year. I just checked Yahoo, and the maximum roster size is 30. I don't know where we can get a league with a 40 man roster, but that would be pretty cool.
Dave H
I would love to establish a yahoo league with you guys - a keeper league - but I don't spend money on fantasy baseball. It would have to be a free league, preferably a yahoo custom league.
WWJJD?

UPDATE: I'm starting two ESPN Fantasy Baseball leagues. It is free to play and the formats are Head 2 Head and Rotisserie. In head 2 head every week you will be matched against another team and you get a win for every category that you lead in at the end of the week with a total of 10 wins up for grabs per week. In rotisserie you will play against the entire league in trying to accrue higher stats than everyone else.
Right now the leagues are set up for 12 teams but that can be adjusted to more or less if need be. If you would like to join then please send me an email with which league you would like to join. Yes, if you want to play in both just put that in the email. Any questions feel free to email me or ask on here. Send emails to marktown1@hotmail.com.

I know that Joey hates fantasy baseball but he doesn't have to read this:
Would anyone be interested in joining a fantasy baseball league if I started one? It would be easiest to do an ESPN league but I've recently come across some sim leagues that I thought were pretty cool. I only know of one place that does sim leagues and if you use them then you pay to play. I'm open to paying if others are too. Some places we'd have to start fairly early to get our league ready by opening day.
So if you're interested, would you want to do a more standard rotisserie/5x5 league or would a sim league be the way to go? Lemme know and I'll get on it.
