Forum > What would the Rangers have to give up to get Greinke?
I know this doesn't help the discussion... and I tend to agree somewhere in there with all of you who keep saying the exact same names -- BUT --
Did anyone hear the audio that BaD Radio played of Greinke's interview from I believe Spring of maybe 08? Dude sounded like he smokes more weed than Lincecum has in his entire life... that or he's just a total idiot who can throw a baseball. It would be interesting to see how he would fit in with this club.
I know Florida is under the impression that they're going to be better and can win with Vazquez and Buck and no Uggla, but... what would it take to pry Josh Johnson away and would he be available for the right package of prospects? More or less prospects than Greinke?

PS: I know they already asked about him (J. Johnson) but in how much detail? Did they actually put together an offer or were they just told "no" when they brought his name up? I say make 'em an offer that can't refuse or something like that. Have them throw in Coghlan while we're at it, and Stanton too. I'm dreaming, I'll wake up now.

I believe there were mulitple reports around the trade deadline this year that JD offered our top 2 prospects for johnson and they declined without much hesitation. btw it would have likely been feliz and smoak at the time. I still don't buy this report but never know i guess. Here's the one from the newberg report:

I believe the offer was Perez, Scheppers, and Engel Beltre.

if his WAR was above or below his ASS--I say make the deal on any combo of 1-5 minor[but major league ready] players. If you will notice his AARP against Latin hitters who hit below the Mendoza Line is not that good. however if his BUT were down slightly to accomodate the curve of learning that would be sufficient in my mind to load his IRA with $$$. Remember the profile of XANAX against AL east teams in day games was -how do you say-WEAK?? Did you know Greinke drives a mercedes? Royal pitchers who drive mercedes[dark blue] have been horrific againt the WEST in day games that start after 3PM[cst]. I suggest everyone just STFU and let JD do his JOB. But rember this--trades by the Rangers on Tuesdays and Fridays of months that oysters ARE NOT harvested have never been rewarding in both WAR & ASS.

Trade for Greinke... Just don't give them Perez or Holland anyone else can go.

Apparently there are talks going on with the Royals for Greinke with "prospects being floated around" according to Rosenthal

Good to see this, especially the part about pursuing both Lee and Greinke

@ Trousy: I think any package is going to have to include either Holland or Perez, plus say Hunter, either Beltre or Profar, plus a fourth player. I just can't imagine an acceptable package that doesn't include Holland or Perez. Hunter, Scheppers, Profar and Beltre? Even then, I think they are going to want at least one young pitcher with a TORP ceiling. Perez and Holland fit the bill.
Stephen
Scheppers has a TORP ceiling. He just has injury issues that many believe will force him to the pen. Still, i'd give up Holland in this deal any day.

"If they dont accept I wait until they see theres no better offers and i take Sardinas off the table and laugh."
Laugh all you want. The Royals will too. It's not like they really want to trade him, or have to trade him at this time. It'll just give them the excuse they are looking for to do what they really want to do.
Rangers have also now indicated that Perez is untouchable, so it'll have to be Hunter. Royals will also definitely want Profar.
