MJH on accountability
Please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed this.
On Hamilton's home run, Barnett provides the following comment: "Hamilton not only cleared the Ranger bullpen, he cleared the lower deck. A fan in the front row of the upper deck made that catch."
It's pretty obvious in the video and on live TV that the ball landed in the lower deck. Please tell me that Barnett will not replace Lewin in the TV booth....
At first glance, I thought it was in the upper deck too. I could see how he could confuse that.
I'm going to let this one slide.
I, too thought it was in the upper deck at first. I really don't like listening to Barnett, but it's his overall demeanor and gamecalling, not any specific instance I would point to.
It hit the facing of the upper deck and then dropped to lower level. Shocked that FOX didn't talk more about the distance of the homer. They mumble about the most mundane things....at least Darling on TBS had really good baseball things to say.
I think Nadel is the best in the business, but I feel like I'm watching the 1st round of the Greater Hartford Open rather than a baseball game when Barnett is doing play by play......I miss the Nadel-Rojas pairing. Wish we could Rojas back to take Lewin's place.
I like him doing hoops, baseball and football not so much...
If I never hear Tim McCarver again, it will be too soon. Someone please remove his lips from Bruce Bochy's rear end.
Yes, I get that Bochy's moves worked out. I can respect that. But give it a break, McCarver.
TBS and FOX both presented compelling cases for muting the television at all times during playoff baseball and solely punching into the KRLD.
On the other hand, Dave Barnett is just not good. He hasn't really improved in his two years at his new post. He's the Michael Young of baseball color commentary, but worse.
It sounds strange on the surface, but I really do think there are some people who will treat Lewin's replacement -- and the quality thereof -- as a referendum of sorts on GnR. These probably aren't the people the Rangers feel compelled to cater to, but if they screw this up with a bad hire they're going to take a serious online beating, and that doesn't seem like the sort of thing a media-friendly ownership regime would cope very well with.
