Forum > Mark Lowe Gets The Nod

http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/texas-rangers/post/_/id/4857314/rangers-set-roster-mark-lowe-gets-the-call

I would like to see your thoughts on the World Series roster. Mark Lowe is the addition and Clay Rapada is the subtraction.

I mean, he more or less wins by default. Rapada was an automatic cut for the WS bc we needed another righty. Feldman obviously did not deserve it. Nippert was a possibility, but he's more of a long man and we need a guy that can come in with strikeout stuff for just 2 or 3 batters. When Lowe's fastball is at its full potential, combined with his great slider, he can definitly get guys out. Whether or not he can be effective on such a big stage after really not even pitching in the regular season will be the big question. I really don't see him getting much action unless a game turns into a blowout, but it would be nice to see him have a couple of good innings this series.

I could see Lowe being valuable if Colby or CJ has a good start but runs the pitch count high.

Colby's first couple of playoff starts were very similar: 5 very good innings, 1 or 2 runs, had the lead, ut ran up the pitch count. In the 6th, got a couple of guys out, but put a couple on, and then Wash went to the bullpen.

If there's a righty at the plate and a 3-1 lead with 2 outs in the 6th, that might be a perfect Mark Lowe situation.

Please no more Mark Lowe. I was interested to see him pitch, but I've seen enough for the season. Hopefully we don't see him again until February.

Ditto...I found myself wishing for Nips after not even 10 pitches into his inning

Agreed. An experiment worth doing, but the results are in.

I think I changed my mind. I think Mark Lowe is a great idea. Hopefully he pitches in game 2. Don't tell me how it goes though... I DVR'd the game.

I'm happy the club has Lowe and I expect him to pitch fairly well -- next year. It is foolish to expect a guy coming off an extended stay on the DL to pitch well.

I agree- 2011 Mark Lowe is going to be a very nice, surprising addition from the Cliff Lee trade. He has lively stuff, he's just rusty and not locating it right now.

In Game 1, Lowe had 2 strikes on the first batter he faced and threw strike 3 with a perfect pitch low and on the outside corned and didn't get the call. He gets that call who knows Wash is a genius, now not so much...

Also in fairness to Lowe, after he walked in a run, he got a grounder to 3B that, yet again, Uribe and many other 3Bs get to, but MY had no prayer at.

We really need a Steve Buechele type at 3B. He could hit too.
