Forum > Ron Wash Tribute Song
I read somewhere the other day that maybe Washington will go down as the modern-day Yogi Berra. "Baseball does what it do" becomes the new-age "baseball is 90 percent mental and the other half is physical."
I can get behind that.

That just the way my hair grow.

For the record. When Wash issued the quote about his hair, he said "I think that's just the way my hair grows." That was then edited to "That's the way my hair grow." I think he issues enough gold that we don't have to manufacture it. It is funny though.

Damnit. I didn't know that it was edited. You took my smile away, Dave. Thanks.

Sorry Adam. The "that's the way baseball go" clip is actually how he said it.

Joey,
I made the Berra reference earlier in the year in response to a comment insulting his intelligence and grammar.
Washington isn't formally educated (just as most baseball players and managers aren't), nor would I argue he is one of the smartest people around the game (though I don't believe he's that far from the average). But he's also not as dumb as many people have said, and that error is the product of his grammatical errors being "black" whereas the just as frequent grammatical errors (hanging prepositions, incorrect who/whom usage, etc.) of many white players (i.e. Nolan Ryan), more familiar to most of the predominantly white fans who were accusing Washington of being stupid, go unnoticed or ignored.
Many of Berra's sayings were very witty and intentional. But he also frequently mangled the language, unintentionally, in remarks long since discarded and forgotten as harmless screw-ups.

Who judges somebody's intelligence off whether they use "hanging prepositions" or have "incorrect who/whom usage"??

Damn, Ron looks like a thug in that picture.
Pryor
Ron rocks! His old-school ebonics is just part of his charm. "The man know baseball."
