Not to return next season. Tom Grieve given three year extension. Personally, I wish that were reversed. Discuss...

Moment of silence worthy?

Interesting take from Lewin (posted on Lone Star Ball):

Sometimes relationships just run their course, and it really is as simple as that in this situation. I still love the Rangers organization, and hope they still like me as well… but with different visions of what the broadcast landscape should look like, this really is the best for all concerned.

The part that jumped out at me was the "different visions" comment. This is obviously code for a disagreement between Lewin and the Rangers on philosophy. In another part, he talks about his commitment to being "informative and entertaining" - my guess is the his definition of "entertaining" and the Rangers may differ somewhat.

My own take on Lewin? I could take him or leave him. Pleasant but occasionally irratating. My guess is they'll go with a more straight-button approach to play-by-play.

Ugh, that's ridiculous. The worst part is that they will never get to hear my protest because I'll just mute the game and listen to Nadel.

I don't think it's wise to read too much into those comments. We have no idea what the differences were. It may be that Lewin doesn't want to be quite as entertaining and the Rangers want him to ramp it up. We don't know and while I'm disappointed he's leaving, I'm not going to just make assumptions.

Really unfortunate. Like him or not, he was the TV voice of the team through all the bad times which also happened to be my formative years as a Rangers fan. Best of luck to him and hopefully the team doesn't screw this up too bad.

Soooo, Does this mean we will get a Dave Barnett type on both TV and Radio? Hello ESPN on my computer. How many ways can we spell B-O-R-I-N-G?

So is Danny Almonte what is your point?

I feel kinda bad for him.. like THE Ohio State said, he was here through all the bad times, and now they finally have some success and we can't share it with him, and vice versa. I've heard a lot of people say they're glad he's leaving, but I promise you everybody will be wishing for Lewin after a few months of listening to someone like Barnett. He may have had his times where you just wanted to say "Shut up Josh," but in a long baseball season, there are going to be stretches that are tough to watch, and it was nice having a play-by-play guy that could provide some fun moments during those dull stretches of baseball.
