Forum > Hamilton has broken ribs

Here's the e-mail JD sent to everyone's favorite beat reporter, Evan Grant.

"Josh saw Dr. Robert Watkins this morning out here in CA. Dr. Watkins had given Josh a CT scan and a spec scan yesterday and another CT scan today. He diagnosed a small stable fracture in the 7th and 8th ribs, that previous tests (2 x-rays and an MRI) had not picked up. Dr. Watkins gave Josh an anti-inflammatory injection at the site of the discomfort, and an epidural nerve-block injection for pain management. It is typically 48-72 hours before it's known whether this treatment has the desired effect. Once the discomfort recedes to a point where Josh is comfortable, he can return to baseball activities."

In short, we're screwed. Ribs usually take two months to completely heal. Luckily his fracture isn't displaced, but it sure as hell can be by playing baseball.

"We can rebuild him ... we have the technology ... but I don't want to spend a lot of money."

How does it take a professional sport organization almost 3 weeks to diagnose broken ribs?
He better practice laying down some bunts and catching people by surprise or he's going to be so "doped" up to play that he probably won't be worth anything.
Maybe this is all hype so when he does return the publicity and results make him seem superhuman!
