Forum > Rules about getting thrown out of a game

I replayed the video from Nelson Cruz's unbelievable 13th inning HR to win the game and noticed that Ian Kinsler was at home plate jumping up and down. He was thrown out of that game so what is he doing there? I thought you had to stay in the clubhouse if you were thrown out of a game.

Anyone have the answer?

Aren't you just ejected from the game? I would assume you could do whatever you wanted on the field after the game ended and the umpires left.

All I know is you have to leave the dugout. After that I'm not sure. But it's kind of a funny image to think of Kinsler watching it on TV in the clubhouse and sprinting from the clubhouse to home plate before Nellie got there first. (Unless of course he was still near the vicinity of the dugout which could possibly be breaking a rule I would imagine)

I saw Kins there and wondered if this crew had the baseballs to call another like the 3rd base touch in MN. Same crew, but they blinked on this one. That's how you even out bad calls. I'm of the opinion that Kinsler could have been called for reentering the field of play. I wasn't sure anyone else saw or noticed. The play is alive until the runner touches the base successfully. They could have also called the "Assist Play from a third party" like in Minn but they let that one slide as they always do.

He was just suspended for a game for returning to the field.
