I never thought I'd be in favor of acquiring Francoeur, but I would take an In & Out Burger for Arias if it were offered.

and the Mets are sending cash, too.

I would bet someone out there tries to snag Boggs.

They're taking on the dead weight of Francoeur in order to force Arias to play for the Mets as punishment for screwing up that Cliff Lee start.

"He's a young middle infielder who we have good reports on," [Mets assistant GM] John Ricco said. "He played for Ken Oberkfell last winter, a guy who we think has some upside -- some big-time tools. He plays second base, shortstop. He's a good addition. He gives us more depth in the middle infield, and at 25 is still a young guy who we can put into the mix for one of those middle-infield spots."

Big-time tools? Really?

Of course he has Big-time tools Joey. He likes to build things. He's got a reciprocating saw, the jaws of life, a backhoe, and even a crane.

That report tells us why the Mets suck.

We received Arias from the Yankees because the Rangers had a choice between Arias or Robinson Cano. If it was a book it would be "Gothan's Revenge" by Jon Daniels. Where a young man is evicted from Queens and cast out upon the Plains of North Texas only to return and get his measure of revenge on Gothan. A real pager turner.

The original list of players offered to the Rangers, and their career WAR:

OF Rudy Guillen: Never made it
IF Joaquin Arias: -0.1 WAR
Robinson Cano: 18.8 WAR
RHP Ramon Ramirez: 3.6 WAR

Isn't retrospect a wonderful thing?
