Forum > Lineup Order When Kinsler Returns?
I liked Hamilton in the 5 spot until he caught fire. Other than giving him tons and tons and TONS AND TONS AND TONS AND OH MY GOD TONS of rest before the playoffs, I say keep him in the 3 hole.

I actually would like to see Kinsler back in the leadoff spot. Move Andrus back to #9. The only reason i say this is because we arent getting much production from the bottom 3rd of the lineup anyway so lets get our 6 best up 1-6. Then after the first time through the order Andrus will be batting 9th which will just be like batting leadoff, after the first time through the order.

Since there is no way the powers that be would move Young out of the 2 hole, how about Kinsler leading off? I like Elvis at the bottom, hitting in front of Kinsler. I don't like the two lefties at 6 & 7, but this is probably the best line-up.
1. Kinsler
2. Young
3. Hamilton
4. Guerrero
5. Cruz
6. Murphy
7. Moreland
8. Catcher
9. Andrus

The Rangers started this season with Kinsler in the 5 or 6 hole. After so many early loses he was moved to where MY was and it seemed to be synergistic; both produced more. I'd keep them together.
Last year when Borbon came up he and Andrus were supposed to provide the same spark with speed. Both are fast but idiots on the basepaths now they have a seemingly permanent STOP on Borbon and he rarelt runs unless Petitt tells him it is OK thus the opposing 1st sacker hears that and he gets gunned down. Doesn't anyone use signs anymore? Vlade at 4 and Hamilton 5 played well in Peoria. Back early, there was a Black Hole at 2nd and Catcher and now it has moved to 1st. Soo, We bench Blanco. How's that work? This is going to be a sad September but as the old Bobby Bare song proclaimed, 'We're the winners."

Andrus
Young
Hamilton
Kinsler
Vlad
Cruz
Murphy
Moreland
Catcher
I think the best one, though, would be...
Kinsler
Young
Hamilton
Vlad
Cruz
Murphy
Moreland
Catcher
Andrus
But, I dont think you take Andrus out of the lead off spot. He has held it down good ish enough and doesnt really deserved to be pulled for a line up we have seen a few times if any this year.

Dream world: Andrus/Kinsler/Hamilton/Cruz/Vlad/Young/Moreland/Molina/Borbon
More realistic: Andrus/Young/Hamilton/Vlad/Cruz/Kinsler/Murphy/Molina/Moreland

Always a fun topic. See When we finally get healthy...
Again, applying The Book's recommendations, I'd like to see:
1. Kinsler
2. Cruz
3. Young
4. Hamilton
5. Guerrero
6. Murphy
7. Moreland
8. Andrus
9. Molina
But since that order seems pretty unlikely, I'd be more concerned that Hamilton and Cruz are given as many off days as they need this month to ensure they enter October in good health.
Incidentally, Fangraphs found that the Rangers actually had the most optimized Opening Day lineup, so I suppose we should be thankful for that. Granted, this was calculated back when Chris Davis was projected to have similar OBP and SLG to Josh, Vlad, and Nellie. If only...

I was just wondering what you guys would like to see in the lineup when Kinsler returns. Mainly, should Hamilton slide back into the five spot and Kinsler back into the three hole? I would love to keep Josh third (You always want your absolute best hitter hitting in the first inning, right?). But with Kinsler seemingly more focused with getting on base rather than hitting for power, five or six wouldn't really make all that much sense. I guess if I could do whatever I want I would do this:
Andrus SS, Kinsler 2B, Hamilton CF, Guerrero DH, Cruz RF, Young 3B, Murphy LF, Moreland 1B, Molina C.
Obviously Borbon would be nine and in center and would take Murphy out and slide Moreland and Molina up a spot if Borbon ever gets back confidence in Washington. And obviously no force in this universe will move Young from the two spot (even though Kinsler's .387 OBP and 41 walks would be fantastic in the two hole.) I can dream right?
