Forum > Frankie to DL, Holland called up

Holland will be long relief, according to TRSullivan. I suppose if Harden stinks it up Holland is right there ready to go...

Can Holland just start for Harden now? And have Kirkman slide into Holland's long relief role.

Time to launch Harden into the sun. Not that Holland has been anything special lately, but you can at least construct a decent upside argument for Holland where you probably can't construct much of one for Harden anymore, despite his flirtation with a no-hitter. Too bad Brandon McCarthy's broken, he would have had his fair share of starting opportunities this year.

If ' H ' is your letter then let's do Harrison. He has started and has looked good out of the Pen a time or two. Frankie 'The Pretender' Francisco is goone and Harden should join him (From the Post Season Roster) Holland was serviceable but not efficient. There are a lot of Mix-and-Match candidates arms floating on rehab, AAA or DL. I would mind seeing them air Kirkman out in a starting role a time or two in September. Right now the Rangers have to ride with Hunter, Wilson and another from Lee and Sunday's starter; Lewis, for Post Season rotation. Angels have yelled 'Uncle' by sending closer to Twins. Oakland has worst schedule to have success. (Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox and maybe Twins) I'd be resaddling these horses for plowing rather than pleasure riding. Cora goes, Blanco stays, Moreland is looking down, Maybe Davis learned what a low and away pitch looks like and where to find it.

What does "Moreland is looking down" mean? I hope that's not a suggestion he be demoted because I think he's handled himself quite well since being called up. He at least appears to know what he's doing, something Davis and Smoak never really did this year.

Also, Frankie, despite some of his blown games, has been one of the best pitchers for the Rangers this year. He's dealing with the exact same thing CJ dealt with last year. Been outstanding for the most part, but when he's been bad it's been memorably bad. That said though, I think they can overcome not having him but I think you're better off if you do.

On Moreland, frankly I'd be surprised if the Rangers are able to find a better 1B anytime soon, unless they pull off a surprising trade. Adam Dunn would be pretty expensive, but a good 1B/DH option, but I think they'll lean towards keeping Vlad around at the $9M option.
